Once again, I agree with you. I think any attacking midfielder needs some movement ahead of him. That has been sadly lacking this season. The effort and willingness to get involved unlike some of our players means that he deserves to play in a more attacking and mobile team.
    ...I think.

My opinion has softened somewhat in that I'd be happy for him to stay, on the proviso that he never, ever plays

I think he's decent but like most players he needs to play in his best position which is not wing back. He was much better when he had a full back behind and with the demise of Mazarri he may get an opportunity to play in his favoured position again. At least he looks like he's trying which more than some can say

We're in the Premier League, looking "like he's trying" doesn't cut it. Simply does not have the ability or productivity at this level. The man hasn't scored a single goal for us in 18 months and has what, one assist? He's just not good enough.

  8. Guy

    Guy Squad Player

Combination of Amrabat and Janmaat looked promising before the injury but no goals and one assist not good enough. Slows game down and can't pick a pass, get rid

  9. Nath. I may never recover from such a savage attack.

He started the season really well but got worse every game towards the end. Instead of making attacks he seems to kill them and slow the team down. Maybe Silva will get the best out him?

This is, quite simply, a myth.

Depends on what your definition of "well" is. Without doubt, his early season performances were better than his end of season performances and he wasn't the same player when he came back from injury. But I suppose you could say he was bang average to start with and then awful by the end. Personally, I felt he was decent up until xmas; certainly one of our better players but struggled hugely after his knock which wasn't helped by coming back into a team on the slide, devoid of confidence and seemingly clueless as to what Mazzarri wanted from them.

  16. Sorry everyone who saw Amrabat and thought he was half decent in the first half of the season. Nath clearly wasn't paying attention until things got more to his liking.

Misses the good bits and only stirs himself to comment when it goes boobs aloft.

Hoping we can pick up more of these stalwarts during our time in the prem. What a fan base we'll have then.

We can finally have support that truly deserves the performances we were getting during the worst moments of last season.

Yes, I'm quite clearly the only person that doesn't buy into the "but he was great the first half of the season!" notion. Jossy put it best when he said "I suppose you could say he was bang average to start with and then awful by the end". That's where I stand on Amrabat.

You're right though, what we really need is more fans like you; arrogant, pompous elitists that believe themselves and their opinions to be above and beyond everyone else and who simply will not tolerate viewpoints that oppose their own.

At the start of the season Janmaat was over lapping whilst Amrabat held up the ball. To me this is what made our at attacks down the right flank look effective, but I've never been convinced my Amrabat even at the end of Flores' season.

In his defence he isn't a wing back and there were times when there was nobody in the box ready to receive a cross. However it got to the stage when I noticed that his own team wouldn't pass to him. Frustratingly he would have his hand behind his back groping the defender behind him, ending up losing the ball or being penalised. After his injury he was often not getting forward or moving into space quickly enough. Whether this was down to Mazari's tactics or confidence I don't know but I think it is time to find a more effective replacement.

That is my two penneth on the player but to follow the theme that this forum is starting:

If you don't agree with my opinion then you are obviously a clueless, dribbling imbeceile with the intelligence of a two year old who has never even heard of football. I'm now going to put you on ignore and never read any of your posts (really I will read them and slowly boil with rage)

  19. I think we could do with fans who get behind players who clearly have ability AND put in effort, like Amrabat.

I have no problem with differing points of view, but I do have a problem with people who ignore the facts or make up history to make a point, and that is what you are doing with Amrabat. You should go back and actually watch those highlight videos of him. He terrorised defences in that first half of the season, and he made clear cut opportunities that led to goals.

If you tell me you don't rate him, or if you tell me you think he's now shot based on the end of the season, fair enough, that is a point of view that I may not agree with, but one which has some validity. But if you say he was poop all season then you are simply wrong, and I seriously question whether you were watching those early games, and I don't care if other people with lazy opinions agree with you.

If you tell me that in certain lighting you see things that are black as if they are white, that is your opinion, and fair do. But if you try to explain that black is white, then you are going to get an argument, particularly if you insist.

I never get these debates about whether a player is good enough to stay or not...totally depends on the Pozzos plan on who to replace him with

If he stays then he will do a job but really needs to work on his end product
If he goes then I doubt that I will particularly remember him in 6 months time

  21. I think maybe you mean that whatever we think and say, it is down to Gino and we ain't gonna change poop, and I agree that is the case. But I disagree if you suggest that is the point of the forum.

And I disagree with you when you say you don't get it, given that you express an opinion above. You have recognised the circumstances, commented upon it, and that is what the forum is here for.

Ha....some would find you offensive. I find you amusing in a strange way.

Maybe I need to be clearer with you....you can only understand a player's worth to your team as and when you understand who will be replacing him. If there are no plans to replace Nordin then I would see him as a semi useful squad player. If the plan is for me to replace him then, due to my lack of pace, I would argue we should keep him. If the plan is to replace him with a player who has a strong end product then I would argue we should sell him.

Does that make sense to you now?

Just for the record, Nath. I thought Amrabat was shyte from day one. I remember coming away from the City ground, Nottingham, after he had made his debut, thinking we'd signed a complete clown

  24. Read my post again and you will realise I made no comment on your opinion regarding Nordin Amrabat, I simply pointed out, quite correctly, that although you said you didn't get the debate, you clearly did, and made a contribution to it.

Does that make sense to you now?

  25. Was there any game you thought he did alright in?

One game seems a little bit harsh to judge a player on.

Are you the type of fan we should aspire to be?

    Meh

    Definitely

  27. That's an opinion. I can't argue to say its not a fact, because you are not stating it as a fact: instead of saying he's poop, you make it clear that YOU never thought he played well, which is fair basis for a discussion on his merits.

If only people would always make it clear they are voicing their individual opinion, rather than stating rubbish as incontrovertible fact, we'd all get along a bit better.

And you are right, we need fans like you. Just not all of them. Same goes for fans like me.

Amribatt , made so many assists last season , and he has good speed and vision , and lots of energy.
Don't know why some of you hornets don't like him . We would have gone down if it wasn't for him.

Wasn't the same after the injury though I must admit , but that can happen.

I know I saw enough times when he beat his man and looked up to cross, only to find nobody in a central position to get the ball to.
Then it all falls apart and he gets the blame.
Most of the problem last season was in the coaching and the tactics IMHO.
