Good that we are starting early given Gino usually starts at about $2m. This will give ample time for the 3 months of fee negotiation before we can then formally talk to the player 24 hrs before the window closes.
Might be a massively unpopular opinion, but if signing Deulofeu would cost £20m and would mean we bring in another crappy, on his way out, striker I'd rather we didn't. Don't get me wrong the guy is brilliant and probably our best winger, but we have somewhat decent options there already with Pereyra, Hughes, Kiko and Richarlison (if he regains his early season form) all more than able to play a role out wide. Whilst we are all looking for ways to improve the squad, Ginos pockets aren't the deepest and if it was a choice between signing Deulofeu for £15-20m or us putting that towards a new striker/defence I'd be much more in favour of the latter.
Well we need a striker anyway as I can see all 3 of the current ones leaving or certainly being linked with a move away!
I would be surprised & disappointed if Gino prioritised the talking fish although if he increase its vocabulary, there could be resale value.
It would be unusual for Gino to sign a player to send him straight into punditry. Normally 15 years of playing required first. Shows how everything has speeded up in modern life.
