Davenport Central Defender Jarvis R/L Mid/Striker Edwards R/L? Mid/Full back Feddie Eastwood/Billy Sharp Striker Any of these 5 players would be 4 good permanent signings and 1 loan striker with Premiership experience, maybe Alan Smith or James Beattie (if Nugent goes to Everton I think he will become available).
Can't help thinking there will be at least 2 loan signings in there! Centre back - Pique (manure on loan) Right/left wing - Jarvis (£750k) Central midfielder - Watson (Palace £2,000,000) Striker - Smith (loan from manure) Striker - Sharp £1,000,000 (scunny)
Two forwards One right back One central defender One midfielder Although i reckon one loan may be a GK (Kiely) with a deal for a full move in the Summer.
pretty much what i was thinking, the forwards are key to our survival, aidy has said we need another central defender (i'm not of that opinion), a central midfielder to play with gav/francis, and a left/right back (preferably right).
Was also maybe thinking Bardsley on loan for a right back BUT the way Chambers played the other night and also the fact Doyley and Mariappa can play there fills me with more confidence than it did before City the other night! I agree with Kiely aswell...would be a good signing!
The 5 players i reckon we might go for are: McLoud from franchise fc Rossi and Pique on loan (i think we might only be able to have one of them due to prem rule on 2 max from one club) Carlos Edwards We will probabl then go for a cheap foreign option like the Malta player at Lillestrom or whoever they are.
Did someone say that in the Prem 2 loan signings max.? If so then Foster takes one of those so can only have one more.
2 full backs but I admit I can't readily think of 2 choices. Up front, let's see Derek O'Riordan and a more experienced short termer
Pressley is one i named when i heard he'd been released, would be a good signing...it appears Southampton are the front runners for his signature!
Southampton have been joined by Celtic, Reading and Sheffield United now. How likely are we to get him ahead of these clubs ??? ??? ???
Derek O'Riordan Various sites have reported something along these lines: This ones from vitalfootball though: Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has told Derek Riordan that if he is patient he will break into the first team. Since moving from Hibs in the summer, the 23-year-old forward's appearances have been limited to CIS Cup matches and a few minutes here and there when he has been brought off the bench in the SPL. But, as speculation continues that Riordan will leave Parkhead in January, Strachan has said it is the current form of Aiden McGeady and Shaun Maloney, combined with Celtic's winning streak, that is keeping Riordan on the sidelines. Strachan said: "Derek has been unfortunate. I think he is naturally the best finisher at the club but from a wide left position rather than as a striker. But Aiden has been voted player of the month a couple of times and Shaun plays in that position. "Derek likes that position so it is a wee bit unfortunate, and if you look at the wide midfielders, they are scoring a lot of goals. It's the central midfielders who are finding it harder to score. "So between, Shaun, Aiden and the team winning, it has been unfortunate for Derek. But as I said to him, it was about a year before I settled into Aberdeen." Norwich City are just one club that have been linked with a January swoop for Riordan, who has previously suggested he is not the sort of player who is happy watching matches from the bench.
Wouldn't be too sure about that! Don't forget he worked with Burley at Hearts and Rudi Skacel is also at Saints now! Southampton is a club that has more potential than MOST clubs in the country, due to it's lush stadium, training facilities and awesome youth set-up!
Riorden, sounds like he may be just the sort of player Aidy likes. He's youngish 23, and bursting to prove himself. I think he is worth a punt!
C/H = Darren Purse M/F = Graham Kavanagh C/F = Billy Sharp & Freddy Eastwood & J Floyd Hasslebank It could be ??
Villa have been strongly linked with him accoring to Southend fans. Had an iffy game on Tuesday against Spurs I am lead to believe so IF Eastwood did come he might not be the perfect answer yet.
