The thing is, if someone posts lies about me in an abusive message, completely without provocation, I have a right to reply. I have never attacked any poster on here and the only time I do is in defence of myself. I think that's perfectly acceptable.

Since I started posting again, three of the usual 4/5 posters have attacked my posts without provocation (GOBE, 424 and Relegation Certs). There are only 4 or 5 regular posters on this forum that do this, but find me as their target. I will always defend myself against these attacks.

Do you think the great man visits the forum?

Maybe he does to fine tune his English & to see the fans’ pov.

To get a feel for the W Herts vibe.

If so, expect the transfer request to Everton first thing tomorrow.

Well done and congratulations to Bobby P. Not confirmed yet, but it looks like he's going to be called up to the Argentina squad during the next international break.

Scaloni is the interim manager of Argentina while they struggle to find a full time replacement for Sampaoli who was forcibly ousted of his role. Pereyra is called up along with Rodrigo de Paul of Udinese due to injuries to Scaloni's original selections. In this case Pereyra is likely to fill in for Gonzalo Martinez of River Plate.

de Paul has been outstanding for Udinese at the tail end and beginning of this season despite a failure to move to Fiorentina. One we should also keep an eye on being at a sister club. Pereyra will likely be a substitute in what is an almost entirely revamped team from the WC barring Armani and Tagliafico with many of the young players now picked by Scaloni should have been in Russia in the first place. Messi thankfully remains on leave.

Called up for the squad, as expected. I think in his recent interview he stated he was trying his best to get back there, it obviously seemed very important to him. Well done to him.

    Good stuff.
As Volantes go, he's one of my favourites.
Wouldn't mind signing a few of his team mates but with our medical team I think we should steer clear of Bustos. Maybe that chap called Franco Vazquez !!!!!

Not to sidetrack this thread too much there are always conflicting reports regarding him and the national team. I don't think in any way he directly affects the team selection but his presence on the pitch seems to over awe his fellow players and indeed coaches who were pretty decent rational beings into making odd decisions.

I don't blame him for Argentina's amazing drought of trophies at senior level. Twenty five years and counting. I'd rather pin it on someone like Higuain and coaches (I would hesitate to use that to describe Maradona). However when he has been absent it is noticeable other players step up and in the recent game against Colombia despite the inexperience and youth they played like a unit and indeed dominated parts of the match.

Dybala or indeed young Matias Vargas need to be given the chance to run the team without Messi directing operations. The captaincy has been given to Tagliafico who is the epitome of a gentleman and dearly loved at Ajax in a very short space of time (I did recommend we sign him with Bustos) and is indeed a leader unlike Messi or it could have been given to Pezzella (a marvellous u20 captain whose career was hampered by a serious injury) who captains the Viola in the wake of the sad passing of Davide Astori.

What does make it rather hard to swallow is that some of the wonderfully gifted younger players who were left out of Russia have now been picked instead of the veterans. How different it might have been for Messi had he the dynamic midfield of Asascibar (one of the best young DM's in the world) and Lo Celso (allowed to leave on loan from PSG to Betis much to the annoyance of PSG fans while Draxler stinks the place up) accompanying him. But the unresolved question is did Messi and Mascherano help influence the choosing of their mates. If they did then they paid a heavy price. No doubt it will all come out in the wash several years from now.

Scaloni did say Messi will be recalled but when is another matter entirely. Perhaps next years Copa America ? But that could be disruptive in itself. I certainly would be in two minds about it but rather happier to see Aguero as the only one of the 2005-07 u20 World Cup winners recalled for next summer. Scaloni for as long as he keeps his job needs to remain bold and pick players on form as he is doing.

I am pleased for Maxi (not ITK just easier to type) re. getting his call-up but I wonder if it has been affecting his game. I've been unimpressed with him for the last couple of games and feel he has shown a lack of adaptability. Opponents seem to have sussed out that he will never run more than 20m with the ball and will always stop and cut back on his right and stop any break. Hence wide defenders don't bother committing to a tackle. At around 80 minutes yesterday Holebas (at 7 or 8 years older) was motoring past Maxi down the left with Maxi making no effort to support. That leaves only one option, a cross into the box when we do not have the right kind of striker to benefit from it. I'm also finding the attempted curlers into the top right corner from the corner of the area a little tedious now, they are only likely to work if the keeper has been drawn off his line to deal with something else going on. Maxi telegraphs them and they look to me like he's too knackered to think of anything else. Hope some training with Argentina will inspire him with some new ideas, but also think Watford should try to find him a role that does not involve running or tackling. Everything else about his game is wonderful of course!
