Amazingly gets called up by Scaloni for the first two rounds of WC qualification starting in Bolivia. Pretty decent selection with youth prevalent (great to see Perez (led Familicao to a surprising lead in Portugal and on the books of Atletico Madrid) and Balerdi as young CBs) but disappointing not to see Asascibar instead of Paredes. Pereyra will be on the subs bench. Unfortunately he can faff around as several clubs would be interested in serie A.

I guess the requirement to play for argentina is slightly more than "run around a lot and clap the fans", which seems to be all that is demanded of players from watford fans.

True but he hasn't shown any great skill or ability in recent games...

Suppose if he has done well with Argentina he will still get selected.

We see many England players get picked despite not performing.

  4. Was very decent in the sun against Liverpool

5 goals from midfield is a decent return, especially for a team 2nd bottom. People who want him out of our team think who exactly will step up and score 5 goals?

He's playing in an attacking role. In themselves, the goals are actually still OK for that position, but his offering elsewhere is appalling.

I dare say he costs us at least 5 goals from being powderpuff and lazy.

The matches have been cancelled anyway so the announcements are now irrelevant. Pereyra is a Scaloni favourite which probably explains his call up.

Bobby will be leaving Watford at the end of the season.

No surprises there then. Shame really. On his day one of the most skilled players to have worn the shirt.

It's shame but it's been on the cards. Such a good player but has become less effective. Let's hope he goes out on a bang rather then a whimper

Did not play against Brentford. Perhaps he was injured but maybe the coaching staff deemed players like Quina will give more. We will see.

On his day just as good as Geri. His overall temperament seemed to let him down. He blew hot and cold most games and seemed disinterested in some.

When he was on it, he was on it.Wolves Away last season after we got slapped by Muff at the Vic, what a performance. He definitely has the talent, there is no doubt he is an excellent footballer he just needs the right people around him.

There was some interview earlier in the season which he says he was going to leave.

Looked great in his first few games before getting injured.

Looked brilliant at the start of last season.

Beside those spells he’s been pretty average, and seemed to play within himself a lot of the time. Maybe he lacked that little extra bit of pace that would have carried him beyond his man more often, but I’d often watch him play and wish that he’d play with a bit more conviction and belief.

Hopefully even with the Coronavirus impacted market, we can get a decent price and use that money to buy somebody a bit more dynamic.

  18. I don't think perhaps he really suits the pace of the premier league, but is an extremely talented player non the less and I've always enjoy watching him.

No doubt he will be going to Udinese. I've said before that most of the business done will be between the two clubs.

He has one year left on his contract, he was always going to be leaving this summer. I just hope the transfer market hasn't collapsed completely because we should be able to get a decent fee for him.

I reckon a move to Udinese will be good for him. I suspect he'll be happier in Italy, the pace of the game will suit him and he will be a lot more valuable to them than he has for us over the past year.

He's been playing the whole season as if he wanted out.

Would it be too much to ask that he at least puts in a shift during our remaining 9 games to help us get out of trouble?

He is one of those players that frustrate me. Obviously talented but I believe nothing more than a luxury player and we can't afford any of these. Pedro gave a good account of himself against Brentford. May be it's time to unleash the beast. Funnily enough said that to the Mrs last night resulting in a sarcastic comment and her turning her back to me. My fault for letting her sober up.

I think Torino is his preferred destination, but Udine isn't that far away. I doubt he'd go to Udinese though unless he agrees a new multi-year deal. One way or another I'd expect him to land in northern Italy somewhere.

    Ha. Probably.

I guess if they didn't have the non-EU limit so low it'd be a no brainer for him to go there. Might even be that the Turkish guy they're now signing was on our radar and the only viable way to get him into the group immediately, so he doesn't end up elsewhere, is to bring him into Udinese? I'm sure there are loads of unintended consequences of our relegation.

I hope someone wants him, because I don't want him at WFC.

  33. I'd like to see him in an Ivic expansive passing side before I pass judgement. He's been a square peg in a round hoof in our hoof to Deeney side.

A nice snippet on our relegation scapegoat Pereyra from Foster's interview with the Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...d-cyclist-after-football-the-alps-vuelta-giro):

Referring to Molly Hall's trip to Vicarage Road:

“In the video, Roberto Pereyra walks in with this super-shiny backpack and Molly says: ‘I love the bag,’” he says. “When my wife and I were watching it, we were like, ‘We’ll send her some similar bags’. But Maxi Pereyra must have seen the video – his bag was like a Christian Louboutin bag or something, which costs like a grand – and he went and bought exactly the same bag and sent one to Molly, which was incredible. He hasn’t gone shouting about it, though I’m probably killing him now by dropping him in it …”
