35 Years And Never Felt So Low As A Fan

Some of the responses on Facebook today from some of our fans to African trolls on posts have made me feel utterly shocked, embarrassed and ashamed. I honestly have never seen such awful stereo typical racism. Has it been like this for a while or is it just a sudden surge of idiotic patriotism?

I've only just noticed how bad it is.

 

Facebook is for women aged 15-25 to show pictures of themselves to be told how pretty they look.
Or women aged 25-35 to show off pictures of their young children.
Nothing else.

 

And for fat, lonely, troubled, middle-aged man-children to show pictures of themselves holding big fish, wearing Fred Perry polo shirts and standing beside motorbikes.

 

Can you send me a link? As disgusting as it is, I'd like to have a look for myself and report any racists to the club. Lifetime bans for any racism hopefully?

 

Facebook was targeted for a reason by Leave.EU and the Trump campaign.

 

I can’t believe Facebook even still exists, it seems an utterly bizarre concept to me now.

If you must update your mates with how you're feeling use your WhatsApp groups. If you must post pictures of what you’re doing (nobody actually cares) use Instagram.

I’ve deleted them all now anyway and my life is better for it. I don’t want to to hear about how some bloke who I barely knew from school is having problems with his new fridge... (that’s what genuinely led me to delete Facebook a few years ago)

 

I have now fixed the fridge by the way.

 

Didn’t realised you’d deleted Facebook! Fridge is all sorted now buddy. But don’t get me started about the oven.

Yeah, maybe ten years ago, Granddad. The vast majority of the Facebook ecosystem these days is Boomers; it's why fake news and conspiracies abound on the platform so hard. And casual racism.

 

Funny to think it started out exclusively for university students.

Now it's all of the above and a huge amount of advertising.

Best thing to do is delete it.

 

The best thing about Facebook is neighbourhood groups arguing about fireworks, loud music and barbecues during lockdown

Its better than any soap opera

 

Oh god, the fireworks! NYE and Bonfire Night just about get a pass, but should any Hindus want to celebrate Diwali it all kicks off.

I used to have lots of people on my friends list, but then along came Brexshit and the election and I basically deleted everyone who didn't agree with me, or even looked like the type who might not.

After the cull, I realised that the only friends I had left were a restaurant called Chennai Express, a former friend's cat (who is now dead) and Grumpy Skeletor.

Actually, the one thing I miss are the local groups. Partly because they’re useful and partly because they’re funny, but at the same time the small mindedness of some people and what would wind them up also used to annoy me. There is some money in the local groups as well, a mate said his local one was sold for £50k because they can make money from advertising.

 

It's always been there the racism. We are fooling ourselves to think our fans are any different from the normal fan. As I have pointed out before now, the Vic reverberated with monkey noises and racist language even in the time of Luther and JB. People seem to have somehow forgotten that.

It seems far fetched to think so many have changed their opinion. Now they're simply 'not allowed' to speak their mind because of 'political correctness'. When you're behind a nice anonymous screen though, you can let rip in the company of like-minded fellow cowards and delinquents.

Worst still those that actually post a photo of their kids as their own avatar photo. Someone whose self-identity is wholly defined by the fact that they have a daughter. I really don't give a **** about any of my friends children. I don't remember their names. Christ, I don't even care about mine.
