https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2019/01/12/watford-secures-funding-bright-start-season/ I fall asleep trying to understand this sort of thing, Is it good or bad?
Pozzos getting their loans out before offloading club. or Financing ground improvements with 3rd party finance or Pozzos looking to make club stand on its own feet or Pozzos withdrawing own loans with a view to acquiring another club or...
Telegraph do seem keen to divulge our financial going ons! Sure we will soon find out if its not all above board.
The Telegraph didn’t even get this. This was floating about on Twitter a few days ago and a reporter for the Telegraph tweeted the guy and asked if he could use it. I will try and find the original source and post the link. Edit: found it fawlty https://mobile.twitter.com/KieranMaguire/status/1082920897684692992 I stand corrected. It wasn’t a reporter for the Telegraph, it was for The Times.
£25M loan doesn't sound so very much. Player investment? Unlikely. Ground improvement? Possibly. Bribing officials? Clearly not. Trying to outdo Elton's annual florist bill? No chance!
Loving the bitter Palarse fan on that Twitter thread moaning about it, on about the taxman and alleging it's fraud. Saddo.
23 Capital is a specialist funder in the sports, music and entertainment industry. The Loan replaces the same security held by Barclays who provided a small overdraft for many years as companies house shows that security being released. This new loan comes two months after the club borrowed £25m from Santander to get funds in rather than wait for the balance of the Richarlison transfer fee which was due in June 19 and June 20. So thats £50m of new debt but remember the club had £75m of debt shortly after the June 17 year end. This was owed to companies within the Pozzo structure -no details as the holding companies are based in Spain and ultimately Luxembourg where financial information is not available to the public as here The June 18 accounts are due out in the next 6 weeks and they might shed some light on the financial situation at the end of last season albeit they will not show the impact of the Richarlison sale as this was after that year end. No one will know whether its good or bad as Pozzo never speaks but it would be normal to borrow from third parties rather than put too much of your own money in. As to speculation of course we could be increasing our spending power capability or tidying things up before a sale but it could be normal refinancing of debt
Very informed post, I raise my hat to you. Sometimes I wonder where some of the posters on this forum get all their knowledge and information from.
Isn’t it a mundane working capital arrangement? Bridges us over until the Big Stef/Zeeman money comes in.
The infamous crown jewels finally coming in handy. Now if we can use some of this money to purchase our much requested fox-in-the-box and somebody for the Chalobah role, we’ll be set.
I'd be surprised and disappointed if it's tidying before a pending sale. The point of the Pozzo network is to make money through getting players on the cheap then flogging them off at their peak. As a best of the rest club in the premier league we are in the unique position of being a shop window for the whole world yet not desperate to hang on to our stars. Given the club also makes money, it wouldn't make sense to sell unless there's a massive offer on the table, they're eyeing up another championship/lower premier league club, or the Pozzos are going to retire from football altogether.
I very much doubt it has anything to do with them selling up..just yet. It's peanuts in relative terms & probably points to a cash flow/accounting strategy. They are more likely to make profits player trading in the PL than Serie A, so hope they are here for some while yet in order to fully realise their investment.
You get €8.5m for winning the Europa League and €4.5 as runner-up. The prize money is fairly insignificant really. You get more for a couple of higher positions in the domestic league. It's more for the glory and status your club receives that is the real benefit, plus of course you gain entry into the Champions League as well.
You mean very little of the £35 I splashed out on a Firestick goes to the participating clubs? Am shocked...
