I don't want this place to become an Everton Love-in but that must be quite special for you Fitz?

Yeah, once LD leaves Everton, I won't give a crap about them... but yes, this is wonderful.

I know how you feel. When you have an affiliation with a player you follow them and want them to do well almost nomatter where.

I remember when Claus Jensen went to England from my club in Denmark, I always looked for reports on how he was doing. Whether at Bolton, Charlton or Fulham - it didn't matter.

I bet it must also be a relief to see the player who epitomizes US soccer actually proving he can perform in the premiership?

LD not the only American to score this week.. Eddie Johnson bannged in his first goal for Aris in Greece assited by non other then wonder kid Freddy Adu

EJ's first goal assisted by Adu

Yanks though they be, neither are MLS players anymore...

I was impressed with Adu's chip, but Eddie 'Grown Ass Man' Johnson's finish was just plain lucky. The goalkeeper should have gotten an assist for being so awful.

EDIT: Thinking about this quick clip a little more, I'd say EJ and Adu would be far better served coming home to play in MLS if they are seeking to polish their game rather than play with that kind of crap pitch, crap defending and crap keeping. I have a feeling we won't be seeing much of these two in 2010. Mind you this is based solely on this one video clip.

I have grown a fondness for LD since his move to Everton, I like his play.

Be careful or you'll end up a bald, boatee-wearing maniac with a fondness for beer and some carppy team in southern California...

Kidding aside - did LD play well against Wigan?

He looked very involved upfront, took his goal nicely too. Looks a good player who just loves playing football.

I was impressed with him on his debut against Arsenal too, he made Armand Traore look a complete mug.

    Hey Ben,
50% off the already reduced MLS outlet prices here.

You can stock up on Galaxy shirts! Sorry no discounted Union apparel yet.

    This is REALLY cheap.

I forgot if I mentioned this, but my dream for the schedule to be released today is that the Galaxy away games for New York and Philadelphia take place during the same short week, like Saturday for Philly and Thursday for New York so I can hit both...

EDIT: Schedule is out and no dice on the double game 1 week road trip.

By the way Ben, are you going to be a season ticket holder for the Union?

    April 1 Chivas @ Galaxy
    April 10 Galaxy @ Houston
    May 1 Philly @ Galaxy
    June 5 Houston @ Galaxy
June 9 Galaxy @ RSL (Nice, replay MLS Cup without Donovan and Beckham out for World Cup...)
    Oct 3 Galaxy "@" Chivas
Aug 14 Galaxy @ New York (probable road trip)

Beckham will miss at least 14 games for his Milan and England dalliances...
Donovan will miss at least 3 games during the World Cup.

    Complete Galaxy schedule:

Too bad, but that's awesome...Paterno-land! What position do you play? My buddy was a pitcher for BU back in the day, early 90's. FP Santangelo, baseball strike scab who caught on with the Expos and got consideration for Rookie of the year went to my high school in the early 80's. That's all I got.

This coming season will be incredible for the Union...you should try to get out for a couple games.

Neither. It barely seems to be registering although the vocal minority is going with bad. I'm aiming for as much international drinking as possible though

    Stunning development with Chivas...
It's legal, and complicated, not to mention in Spanish, but the gist of the article is that Jorge Vergara, who acquired the rights of ownership to the Chivas name in Mexico in 2002, was found to have done so in an illegitimate manner and therefore his ownership is null and void.

He doesn't own the Chivas name.
He has no right to use that name for a team in America known as CHIVAS USA.

I'm really not sure what will happen as a result, but it's possible they will have to rebrand themselves, and they also might not be able to play this season due to rules that say a team must provide 9 months notice to rebrand.

Furthermore, the reason Vergara opened a team called CHIVAS USA in Los Angeles was to further the brand of CHIVAS worldwide. Putting aside the fact that the team has performed poorly in attracting fans, the fact that he know longer owns the name CHIVAS leads me to ask what's the point of having a team in the USA at all with that name?

This could get interesting...it's a bit like if the High Court said that there is no right for Luton Town to exist! We've been saying that all along.

    Ben,
One of your players at the Union, UCLA's Kyle Nakazawa:

What would you rather have Fitz? Donovan at L.A for your club.. or staying at everton for your country?

  32. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

I'd like him in LA this season, and I'd like for AEG to cut him loose next season to Everton after they've had some time to figure out what to do to replace him. I'd like for the Galaxy to cut Beckham loose after this season too, but that won't happen.

Either way, it is very possible both will continue to play in Europe a while longer...

    Link.

Then again, the same article also says this:

I take it he means, "I'm going back to LA assuming there's not a strike, but if there is then I'm staying here."

Fitz, wrong topic, but are you watching Canada devour the Russians?

They've really stepped it up now after an average start, impressive to watch and they've not even hit top gear yet. Iginla is really tearing it up.

  35. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

No, I am watching USA vs El Salvador, but I am looking forward to seeing the replay later. NBC is replaying things multiple times...even if they don't show some things live.

USA had a tough time getting past Suisse. Those *******s are hard.

I'm sure Canada is angry...I was hoping they would lose to the Russkies because I really don't want to play them again...
