Absolutely no chance of any deal happening unless for some crazy reason we wanted Morelos (hopefully not).

We shouldn’t let him go for less than £40m. Gray is ripping up the Prem.

  5. Don't need him - Deeney's our main red card collector & leaves Morelos for dead.

  6. UEA_Hornet

Morelos has had more this season than Deeney has in the last decade playing for us.

  7. Which was sort of my point - we don't really need someone to collect even more. And, as a player, Deeney leaves him for dead.

Why on earth would we let him go for 9m

If Rangers still want him, let him go and get Morelos here in the deal. I don't care if he's a maniac, that's exactly what we need right now. Some heart and he can put the ball in the net. Might flop or he might go on to be a SPL gem worth £50 million in two years who knows but he'd offer more than Gray right now who just isn't enjoying his time here.

Andre Gray was all earnest and star guest to Jordan Jarrett Bryan on Talksport on Thursday night.

He was interviewed at length, with a slant on what its like to be a (black) victimised, social media scrutinised star in Britain today, and so on.

Andre said how he ignores social media as he didn't need anybody to tell him what he would find on Twitter after he missed the sitter against Sheff Utd. In fact he told how his gf, the pop star, not to keep looking at her own social media, which he says she can't help herself to do, as she will get upset at what she finds. Hence he won't be looking at this then.

When pressed, JJB had Andre admitting that Watford's continued winless form "has sucked all of the confidence out of us".

Not just him, but US. The whole team. No ****, Sherlock.

The other stuff he raised my eyebrows with was how he used to arrive for training at Wolves (and Hinckley??) in stolen cars or cars without insurance, but realised at Shrewsbury and then Luton that he couldn't be like that and get success. But before he didn't care.

And that he still is mates with all his bad lad mates he grew up with in Wolverhampton but, and this isn't word for word, "they respect me and protect me is when bad stuff is about happen or is going down, they get me away before it happens, so I'm not involved."

    True love that...

It reminded me of that time a few years back at a Fans Forum when Troy Deeney rolled his eyes at a question about Marvin Sordell and said how Sord's Foundation work (about race diversity etc) had made MS lose focus on the football. Concentrate on the football said Troy and "there's time for all that later"

Then Troy's form went into freewill , along with his marriage, when TD set up his own Foundation around the time we went Premier League.

And now Angry Gray is doing the same - taking on work and media profile pieces about black gangs and knife crime and discrimination, when his own form and goalscoring has gone to pot too....

To be fair Gray has hardly played and he needs Deeney alongside him. There are very few PL defences that could stop Deeney / Gray in their pomp.

Deulofeu and Gray both need Troy alongside them and vice versa. Fair enough we gambled on Welbeck but why the club haven't found a striker who can play as a lone striker in the last couple of years is baffling. It would give the head coaches much more choice when deciding on a formation.

I still think Gray and Deeney is our best partnership. Gray isn't bad in a two but hopeless without a Deeney type to play off.

People have made their minds up before he sets foot on the pitch.

Another punt towards the forward line comes to sod all. "Unlucky Gerard! Oh, it was Gray. That was sh!t, Gray!"

This happened on two occasions on Saturday.
GD dallied and lost the ball and no one uttered,Gray did something similar and the nay sayers behind me go into meltdown.
He is limited,we can all see that but constant moaning hardly helps.

He scored some important goals for us last season. He's not amazing, and he needs to play off a 'Deeney type' but who else do we have that actually puts the ball in the net from time to time? To my eyes he's never hidden and always puts in a good shift.

Problem is at the moment we don't have Deeney or Welbeck or even Success for him to play off. Him and Gerard doesn't seem to work. Our attacking options really are pretty grim right now.

Tell me about it, I would argue that even if we did not have our current injury list, he still would not be good enough unfortunately :(

People make excuses for him and are saying that Gray has to play in a certain system and a certain way - specifically, that he needs someone else to take the ball down for him and play him in.

Basically, he cannot do anything other than poke home 1/4 chances within the box - that's all he has to his game. OK he gets in a position to score those goals, but it's simply not enough of a contribution for a player in a football team.

He was a terrible buy and a further example of our broken recruitment policy. What's more, he's shown literally no ability to work on any of his shortcomings and actually seems to be getting worse, which seemed impossible.

Even further condemnation of the recruitment.

If you combine the attributes of Del, Deeney, Gray, Success and Welbeck I'm not sure you even get one complete striker.

I thought Gray was very good when he came on against Bournemouth. Running into channels, holding the ball up as much as he could.

He put a fantastic ball across the face of the six yard box and if Deulofeu wasn't on his heels we would have been 1 up.

He should start, alongside Deulofeu with Pereyra just in front of Doucoure and Chalobah.

If Quique wants to be more solid, have Gray upfront with Pereyra and Hughes in that attacking midfield area.

Either way, Gray is our only fit out and out striker and has more know how in that position than anyone else available.

Gerard and anyone doesn't work as sadly I've never seen any evidence that GD thinks of, or will pass to, anyone else but himself.

Playing Andre Gray up front alone is to goalscoring what telling Ben Foster to only use his left arm is to goalkeeping.

While we may all disagree on *quite* how poor Gray is, I think we can all agree that our striking options at the moment as a whole are appalling and I genuinely don't know what I want to see for the next few games. I mean, is Success now the saviour?

    I almost miss Okaka.

Flores says he doesn't want to play youngsters when the team aren't going well ..

So we probably won't see Pedro either .

Because Flores is only interested in old trusted players to deploy his dreadful negative tactics. Joao Pedro won't get a look in.

Well the more experienced players are doing a heck of a job. Maybe playing somebody who desperately wants to get on the pitch would be an idea. On the off chance we do have a decent run, he won't play either as he doesn't want to change a winning team!

  33. Jumbolina

Yeah I think young prospects are on the back burner until Flores leaves. To be fair Gracia was no different not giving Peneranda a single minute in end of season dead rubbers. It's why we never develop anybody.

I’m certain this is also a consequence of changing manager every season, or thereabouts. As a coach, knowing you have an extremely short leash, why would you take a risk on developing youth, knowing you’re likely out of the door before the player is ever ready to contribute on a weekly basis.
