Excellent signing . On a cold wet Feb evening when all our South American stars are too cold to run let alone score, Glen will come up with a scrappy tap in from 2 yds to win us 3 vital points.
His one cameo I remember was running after a pass, falling over his feet then looked knackered. Pure class. He did get that one good chance to equalise at Barnsley was it? Very late on.
He's on the Monday Night Club on Radio 5 right now. I've listened for the last half an hour and Watford haven't been mentioned once. Maybe he said something earlier.
Probably just on as Brighton are playing and well he isn't involved tomorrow as they usually stay in a hotel over night.
Seems he is off: According to Adam Leventhal in The Athletic, Glenn Murray will probably be off next month. "Some key events - out of his control - have contributed to his time at Watford not going to plan"
Too right. It's not his fault they haven't got a ramp at the training ground to accommodate his mobility scooter.
Yet another lucky guess mate. You know the drill, the usual suspects will be along shortly in order to deflect by insulting you personally.
If you have a negative about every aspect of a middling club like Watford, I think it's probably to be expected to be 'proved right' 50% of the time.
Watford striker's loan to be terminated by PL club – reports - The 72 Carrying on from yesterday's report, it's not a big surprise he's off in January, but I do think the club (head coach) have not been fair to him. Sure, I wasn't impressed with him in his early appearances and the only meaningful contribution he's made was tripping up Son in a pre-season friendly against Spurs to give them a penalty. However, I was a little more encouraged of what I saw of him in his last appearance when he nearly won us the game at Wycombe. Since then, he's not been involved. Unless he's had Covid twice, for him not to be included in the match day squad and for Ivic to prefer a vacant slot or two goalkeepers on the bench rather than Murray is a bit out of order. He's not the answer for sure, but I think he could have been used a lot more from the bench in tight games.
Will now go on to join L**** and go on a scoring run that fires them into the playoffs at our expense. FFS Gino.....
Seriously though, he's a professional with plenty of experience. He'll get goals too, maybe not as many as he used to but he does offer a certain style of football which gives us some flexibility up front. Doubt he'll be a starter but long season ahead. At least none of us will have to worry about effort with him either unlike some of the other turds at this club. Guess that means Deeney is definitely off
The lesser spotted Glen Murray is WFC's latest Media Star!!! Which might explain why he has not even been on the bench recently and TWO GK's have been on the bench instead. Glen Murray was a pundit on Sky tonight, so he is at least getting a start somewhere
Big mistake to let him go IMO. We've been crying out for a fox in the box and here we have a bona fide scorer and we don't want him? It's insane. Get him on the pitch for 90 minutes every game and he WILL score goals. Probably.
Ivic on Murray: "I cannot tell you something - I don't take him because of tactical reasons. Currently I have three or four players in this position who for me are in a better shape." Roughly translated: "I think Murray is sh1t"
Indeed. Still selecting a second keeper is disrespectful to a seasoned pro and reflect badly on Ivic professionalism.
A total car crash of a signing. Absolutely no thought or consideration of any kind was put into this signing. Thank god we will hopefully be offloading him in Jan. Classic Watford.
Brought in without the approval of the manager. But poor as that is from Gino AGAIN it is also poor form from Ivic to keep out a seasoned campaigner like Murray. He can pass his experience on to someone like Pedro who has a lot to learn. And he still has plenty of nowse as a player as he showed against Wycombe. Unlike Gray who seems a headless chicken most of the time. It was Ivic's job to try and make use of him, get him fit. Not freeze him out with no explanation or maybe as a two fingers up at Gino. Perhaps the new manager will see Murray in a different light. I mean he has a proven track record in this division and you need someone who can knock in ten goals or so alongside two players grabbing twenty each.
The problem is his "proven" record is from a few years ago, the same as Gray and Deeney. So far none of them have shown the form to show they can do it again.
I did feel sorry for Murray being left out of starting lineups and even squads when we weren't exactly blessed with striking options, but if what Ivic said was true that he just wasn't fit enough, then I have to question Murray's professionalism, either that, or he's just completely and totally washed up. Either way, I believe we're paying him £7,500 a week as part of his loan deal, terminate it and use that money to bring in a loanee from a big club?
Munoz wants to give Murray a second chance. Xisco Munoz offers Glenn Murray Watford chance | Watford Observer I'm actually pleased about this. He's a perfect player to bring on in a tight match against tiring legs. He is football intelligent and is by far the best finisher at the club. We've just got to find a way to utilize him in the best way. I thought Ivic was totally wrong in how he treated him.
I'd prefer to send him back and get another loan in. I'm starting to worry that Munoz might just be too much of a nice guy.
I really don't think we could get better than Murray as a loan deal. Getting a decent striker, who would do well in a top Championship club, is a tall order unless you're prepared to pay a lot of money. Deeney, Gray, Murray, Perica, Success, Pedro and Sarr....really should be enough for us. Maybe even Penaranda to add to the group. Zinckernagel could even be used as a second striker. Of course we all want better, but it's highly unlikely we'll be able to improve on what we have without spending money, which we are clearly not going to do. Out of contract players, a punt on a young lower league striker or another Udinese out of favour player is probably the best we can hope for right now.
Probably just hyping Murray up incase for some reason we cannot send him back. I’d rather get in someone younger , quicker and more likely to score .
