If you believe this it seems Arsenal as a club want Doucouré but the new manager wants N'Zonzi more proven player at European level who he has worked with before. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ide_between_Docuoure_and_N_Zonzi/?ref=mr&lp=2
Sports Witness reckon we have rejected a bid of 30m euros for him from the snake and co. For 30m euros they can have his little finger.
Didn't he even say that Everton would be a sideways move? Gino is probably waiting for the panic buys later in the window if he's to offload anyone.
He didn't, although I think he'd know it's a side move as they are as likely to qualify for a European Spot as we are. Assuming Spurs don't make a substantial bid I imagine he'll stay to see if we can in an extremely unlikely event grab a spot and then leave next Summer.
Everton not showing any class with this one. Surely they realise there is no point in bidding for any of our players. Gino won't deal with them on principle.
PSG being linked/interested? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...racting-paris-saint-germain-interest/?ref=rss
Far more palatable than him going to some bunchofcunts like spurs. I suspect he signed the 5 year deal after being given the guarantee that he can leave next summer. I cant see him going in Jan. But then again, I'm just a nerd on the internet so what do I know.
If true it'll most likely happen, quite clear that Doucoure wants a big club/money move (Don't blame him!) Could make another 40-50 mill off of him
Would be a shame but tough to stand in his way if a club like that came in for him, especially PSG for a French player, suspect national team call up would follow, champions league, league titles etc.... As per CB this could be another £40-50m and with Chalobah and Cleverley waiting in the wings (hospital wings) may not be as much of a disaster as it could have been previously but think he would still be a miss from the team, gets a lot of credit but I think he does even more for us than many realise. Would obviously like him to be with us long term but good luck to lad if this were to happen.
You know Mrs Mariappa, so you are one step ahead of the rest of us. This post is clearly based on insider knowledge so be careful to protect your identity, Troy. I'm sure there would be a buy out clause of £50m ish in his contract. But what do I know ?
I'd hope we can negotiate good money for him. I can't see us standing in his way if PSG did come in. The opportunity that the Pozzos sell to incoming players is that they won't stand in the way if a big club (with big money) comes in - this would be another example to add to the list, and should hopefully help us sign players who otherwise might hesitate - without having to resort to the Holebas kidnap route. I agree we'd hope Chalobah could step in and take his place but I am starting to get worried about his injury record. I imagine we'd see a replacement bought in.
Looks like PSG could only go to €30m, because of FFP. I'd say it's extremely unlikely Watford would sell for that, especially in the inflated January window. May in the summer, for around €45m, it could be a more realistic proposition. http://sportwitness.co.uk/club-prepared-e30m-envelope-watford-midfielder-might-not-enough/
If oil-rich PSG can only go that high, you’d hope it would set off a bit of a bidding war. But it seems that they may try and cash in on Rabiot in January before his deal ends, so they may have added funds if he accepts a move instead of seeing his contract out. Cant see them being the only club being interested at those prices. Only caveat to that obviously is if there’s a release clause in his new contract - although I would say that’s very un-Pozzo like. A clause to say certain clubs can speak to him if an acceptable offer is made perhaps, but I’d be very surprised if canny Gino would put a simple release clause in there. But I do think we can probably all accept we are on borrowed time to an extent with Doucoure. He’s young enough to go right to the top and become a regular CL and international player. He simply isn’t going to achieve that here. I think this is our last 6 months/season with him so we should enjoy it while we can. Wouldn’t be too concerned as we have Chalobah (fitness withstanding of course) to step in - and I still think he’s our best CM when everyone one of them is fit and firing. But we would definitely need to add another to the squad. That being said, you can see why they are trying to train Wilmot up as a CM. And I also thing Hughes can naturally play there. Lastly, it says a lot for Capoue that I’m now not nearly as worried about Doucoure potentially leaving as I once would have been.
The thinking of a modern day football fan.. He’s one of our best players. Don’t sell. Under any circumstances. Oh wait, is that how much they’re offering? And he wants to go anyway? Hmm well he’s not actually brilliant all the time. And actually Option B is just as good. We won’t miss him much if he goes. (Insert Richarlison/Doucoure/a.n.other)
Don't think release clauses are allowed in English football. There might be a gentleman's agreement in place though...
Ideally: Doucouré stays and the strength and depth of our midfield takes us to Europe next season. Realistically: We allow Doucouré to leave but only for £40m+ and reinvest the money wisely, still managing to reach Europe. Ver possibly: He leaves for only £35m, we waste it, end up in 15th and are left dreaming of what could have been.
The timing of these reports is ideal for teeing up a Jan auction. A couple of weeks for Prem clubs to scratch their @rse, look at the financials & locate their cheque book. PSG is the ideal club to be linked with. Massive, CL but not unturndownable (cf Real Madrid). We all assume Gino has an agreement with Doucs that he can leave & it seems that the PozzMan is using that to fly a kite & gauge interest. If the price isn't right, we keep Doucs until the summer. Conspiracy theory! Did Gino tell JG to play Capoue in the holding position this season? Last year Doucs played there & was our pivot. Now he's a little further forward, maybe he's not so central to our transition. (Note how I stepped into the Reids there.)
