We've only spent 2 days there all season but that's where we've ended up: We spent longer in 5th! Still , we're also the only club outside the top 7 not to spend a day in the relegation zone. Source is Ben Mayhew (@experimental361) on Twitter.
Last season we ended up 17th, which was the lowest position all season, achieved only on the final day.
Seven people on the forum predicted a 14th placed finish so hats off to them! http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/watford-related-predictions-17-18.53159/
To spend over a month in the top 6 and finish 14th shows....... ...a good team that became really complacent? Roy Hodgson did an absolutely superb job with Palace.
The team at the start of the season would comfortably have finished top half, before injuries and Everton screwed it up
Outside of the top 6, the only other teams to have occupied a position in the top 3 are (amazingly enough): Muff Brighton Huddersfield West Brom and us. Weird things statistics......
Well I guess thank goodness we did start well. BTW You'd think Everton had finished bottom of the league with about 10 points the way they have been going on. No way is Big Sam staying there!
Really weird to think that our team two years ago starring Ben Watson managed to finish higher than this lot. The Premier League was a lot better then as well
It's an interesting table. West Brom held every single position apart from 1st and 7th. That has to be an unusual stat for a team that seemed to be bottom for such a long time.
Not too bad considering what Kaa did to us. Kept our full squad fit and Silva telling Everton to eff off? At least where Burnley are. We nowhere near a top four side with our best team but it’s not out of the question. From the fight shown overall since Gracia joined we are certainly not a relegation fodder team. Next season? At least top ten would show improvement.
I didn't get much else right though... Second season Silva. He didn't make it past the second half of this one!
For me : i got league position, Pots, Hughes signing of the season - maybe. Kaboul flop of the season - definitely! Cups were a big letdown...
The number of days a team has held a place is slightly weird data to use. The international breaks (no games for 14 days) skew the data hugely. Makes more sense to look at positions after each round of matches.
The good ol' alphabet on Day 1 saw to that presumably. The league started on the Friday night I think.
