have made their debuts under the Pozzos. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...th-player-to-make-hornets-debut-in-pozzo-era/ Some greats/ some not so wonderful and a few you've probably forgotten about. Also notched up our 100th win under Gino and co too.
100 doesn’t seem that many over 6 seasons but I do foresee trouble when they all have to go back. Strangely magnificent to see the list. Munari & Riera had temporarily skipped my mind. Bonham J feels like an epitaph to some young scamp shot on the first day of the Somme.
Good effort from the Pozzo lads. Some absolute gems, some absolute piles of *****, but far more who have been wildly inconsistent
16 debuts a season shows it's a scatter gun approach to signing players. Some have been superb, some good, a lot have farking crap.
Also I remember watching this video of Victor Ibarbo and being convinced he was going to be a superstar. Where did it all go wrong?
Lewis McGugan is still only 29 but has been without a club since January after being released by Northampton. What a waste of talent, hard to believe he scored 10 goals from midfield when he joined us.
Was unplayable in every sense of the word. Great shot on him but absolutely nothing else. Gaining 1 goal for every 15 shots left a huge chasm in midfield that in that disaster season left us chasing shadows. Not worth a place in the team.
He was undoubtedly talented but had no footballing brain and never seemed to much effort in. Thought that after getting forced out of Watford and then Sheffield Wednesday, he might've pulled his socks up but evidently not!
Alex Merkel. Tried a step over and fell over. Got up and tried it again. Fell over again. This was literally his only contribution in his time with us.
The pozzos first real dip into buying English players. No wonder they decided it wasn't for them for a while...
When he started playing against defenders who could defend and goalkeepers who wouldn't obligingly jump in the wrong direction. Eg The Premiership.
About 30% were a hit... 20% had no business calling themselves footballers... The remaining 50% were various shades of meh... or moo
I have no recollection of him playing at Watford, but I do remember him lining up against a certain Essaid Belkalem at the Brazil World Cup
