Are you allowed to start a match with 10 men by choice, or does it have to be 11? Not really general Watford, but to be honest it is 1:15 and I'm tired and bored and I'm sure nobody is particularly bothered at this moment in time.
as long as you have 8 players the game can start i've played eough times on a sunday morning with 10 players. We did it really well once, winning 1 - 0 till two of our players decided to have a fight and got themselves sent off about 5 minutes before half time we lost 14 - 1 in the end !
Do you remember many year back when we beat Brizzle City at home 5 - 3, when they had 3 players sent off. They spent the last 20 minutes trying to get a 4th playe sent off so the game would be abandoned. We were also 5 - 1 up when they were reduced to 8 men ! somethings don't change
Some leagues specify 8 men as the minimum required to start a game of football. However, according to Law 3 of the Laws of Association Football, 7 is the minimum.
also the sheffield united v WBA game, where sheff utd had 3 players sent off and 2 players faked injury. WBA were winning 3-0 and the FA kept the result and sheff united were fined. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZDsjY3uFdE
In professional football you have to name 11 starting players, nominate a substitute goalkeeper and another 4 nominated substitutes around an hour before kick off. However, if for any reason only 9 turned out for the kick off the referee wouldn't wait for the other two.
What would happen if a team had 5 players sent off, would the game have to be abandoned, or would it just be their tough shyte?
What if a team had 5 men sent off during a fight, but were leading at the time ? I don't see why they should lose the points
The game is abandoned due to fact that one team would have less than the 7 players required to play a game. However, the decision of the result or whether to replay the game is up to the competition i.e. Football League to decide.
Started? Not sure. But I seem to remember a Chelsea (?) game from last season where one of their players strolled out for the second half a good 30 seconds after play had resumed.
