Now on SSN. I know this was mentioned on the other thread but now some media substance to the chat.

That will activate the clause. Bye bye DG10. You shall be missed

I hope we don't sell him this early, at least wait for one other bid to come in so there's some competition and we can get more!

He's worth more than £2.5 million, unless it was as part of an exchange for HH and Tommy Smith!

He said he's happy to stay here though, so there's no reason he'd choose to go unless he's offered crazy wages or is pushed (I suspect it will be both!:dismay:)

The clubs response to this will give a good indication of the intentions of the new owner(s). Surely they will hold out for more money than that?

Well SSN do have the contacts with the agents, how long will the club take to admit there is interest.

£2.5 plus HH & Tommy Smith would sound a bit better.

QPR's ITK fans seem to think he has actually already signed, hate football sometimes. 2.5 for Danny is a joke, just hope we spend that on CMS.

If someone was stupid enough to put a minimum fee release clause in his contract then there's nothing that Bas can do. Shame, we could have got at least double of what he is going for.

  10. The clause is surely that a club making an offer of £2.5m has to be allowed to talk to him. It does not mean we have to sell, and if someone else comes in they will firstly try to entice DG with a better package, it then comes down to DG and WFC coming to a mutually agreeable solution being a balance between wages and selling price.

Looks like he's gone for 2.5m

I don't know why people are surprised by this.
We're skint everybody knows this. QPR have offered the cheapest price they can get away with.
From DGs point of view this is probably the perfect move. Its just down the road, working for a very good manager (although he's a ****) and premiership football.
Now the offer of 2.5m has been made I'm sure DG and his agent are trying to and will make it happen.
I'm sure Bas will get the blame for this but I'm not sure how much more another owner would have got anyway. Not sure if this £2.5m get out clause is right but sounds like it could be true.
Do we really want HH? Yeah he scored a few for QPR last season but that was for a team flying high all season and creating loads of chances. If he was to come to a lower half of the table team, which we will be next season, he won't offer much.
Gutted if DG has gone for £2.5m but not that surprised.
Just hope we can pick up someone half decent from the lower leagues to assist sordell and deeney.
Theres no way we're getting CMS....

I doubt that would be feasible, especially considering the kind of wages they would probably want. Would have Smith back, not too sure about H though.

Im not surprised by 2.5 M, we have a history of selling players well under their value. Still it is a mark up on what we got him for!

    QPRs Taylor made Army!

I don't think we will be buying any players that people have heard of either. CMS no chance.

The only way that DG10 going to QPR for £2.5 million can be made a good deal is if they threw in HH18 and TS21 as well. In my opinion that would be good business because how much of the DG10 money will we see invested into the first team anyway? It wouldn't see the light of day from Bas' back pocket.

Absolutely pathetic beyond words if he goes for £2.5m, only would that happen to f**king Watford, if he played for any of about 15 other teams in this league they'd be getting £4m+ for him but we always bend over and take it up the ring.

If true that it's because some stupid c*nt put in a £2.5m release clause in his contract then they need sacking.

If Graham goes for £2.5m and Eustace for the £200k, our 2 best players for such ridiculous fees, I won't be putting a f**king penny into the club this season.

Don't have a choice if thats the release fee written in his contract.

    Exactly the problem.

Whoever put that in his contract and didn't realise that a young striker with a good goal-scoring record in the lower divisions, European and Premiership experience may be worth more than £2.5 million when selling him in a couple of years is an absolute fool and shouldn't be allowed to deal with contracts ever again.

If there is no clause in the contract we might be able to squeeze a bit more out of QPR but I'd imagine they'll give him the wages his agent asks for and he'll be gone...

The thing is it hasn't been a couple of years, he signed his new contract on the 29th September 2010, after he'd already had a fantastic start to the season and a good season before.

It is just beyond belief, it really is. Only at Watford.

    God, forgot about that.

Even more stupid then, anyone could see by the way that he finished last season and started this one that he was going to attract some admirers.

Of course it all depends on the kind of money Bas and his backers have and are willing to invest, which is something that we don't know. If they have the sort of money that some have stated and are willing to invest it on new players etc, then it would seem that the only reason the offer would be accepted would be down to a release clause.

If there isn't a release clause, it would prove a worrying scenario if the club accepted the first bid for Graham, as there can be little doubt that others will come in for him at some stage. Surely it's all about waiting for more bidders and getting the best possible deal. If the owners can't negotiate more than 2.5m for him it would be a joke. I believe the club could get better value for wages than Smith and Helguson though, unless QPR intend to release them they will probably feel that they deserve better wages than Watford can afford to pay. Why do we always get linked with ex-players anyway?

And I wouldn't blame U for one second. There is no way Malky can keep pulling rabbits out of the hat, assuming of course that he doesn't follow DG out the door.

Fed up with supporting a club who are administered by ******s I wouldn't put in charge of my piggy bank ... sick of seeing other clubs develop while we tread water and try and stay afloat. Give it a little time and we will soon be League 2.

Agreed, if DG goes for 2.5mill and Eustace for 200k then I can see Malky walking...I really hope I'm wrong but I can see it happening

I wouldn't blame Malky to be honest.

I would be gutted to see him go but there is only so much that one man can do when the team that he is attempting to build is sold around him for derisory sums of money every f**king transfer window.

It just shows this club's lack of ambition. Build a team that could do something and dismantle it whenever anyone comes in and waves 50p at us.

Players should only be sold in Ashley Young circumstances and when money is made available to replace them.

DG10 and Eustace are the two most important players in our squad. Sell them and don't replace them or replace them with inferior players then I'm afraid that we're looking at a very likely relegation next season.

But we have to be a selling club to survive. People complain that we are selling these players, but don't pay for season tickets or tickets on the day unless we are top of the league or in the Prem!! Then there's those who will complain that the club is being run by ******* when we near administration or just survive by the skin of our teeth. Those who complain that we should risk administration or rely on loans will then moan that the club is being run poorly when we find ourselves in admin or asking a bank for another loan!!

We will have to sell. We have made a very very good profit on DG10. Yes I would hope and expect him to go for more, but if contract negotiations meant that 2.5 mill was put in as minimum release, then we get on with it. We hope to bring in a replacement and hope Sordell and Deeney can step up, and that Massey can have a season like Scoredell.

    BIGGER PICTURE

To be fair Budfrog does make a couple of valid points. Whilst we are bringing through great young players and building good teams with them and other experienced heads, what is the point if we are just going to flog them for the price of a packet of crisps and an apple?

We are just going around in an unending cycle of surviving and staying afloat which doesn't fill me with passion or hope. The lack of ambition is soul-destroying and whilst I will continue to go and support the team every week it can't be denied that we are treading water and just existing. All that will lead to is mediocrity or relegation.

EDIT: Only just seen your post quoting me but I think that this post more or less covers the points that you made in yours regarding my comments.

Well said Nath. I don't know about limited ambition at present. We need to get the club completely safe as it were but to accept a derisory offer like this would require the board to be shot.

£4M should be the minimum they accept never mind the release clause (which idiot wrote that in last September) and insert money clauses for appearances made etc etc.

QPR are a bunch of *******. Hope they get brought down to earth rapidly.
