I think , if no uninsured drivers occured , anywhere from now till forevere , you still wouldnt see premiums fall , they would soon think of another reason for them to stay at the same levels , or even increase...same as Gas and Fuel , as long as the shareholders are happy...

I'm old and don't have accidents so my premiums are lowish. I still get loads off of any renewal by ringing around though, it's the best weapon.

This plays a big part. It's a typically English thing but people won't try and negotiate with the likes of insurance companies - they just accept the price for what it is.

My girlfriend renewed a few months ago. She said her car was now kept on a driveway instead of in the road.

They put the price up on the basis that it was 'out of view'.

    Insurance is one huge swindle.

Take OFF my wifes business use cover = no reduction in premium

Put BACK ON my wifes business use cover = increase in premium

    I love it

a good mate of mine is an independent broker and has saved me hundreds on all my insurance, motor, home, business, travel, even pet insurance. He knows some good policies for provisional licence drivers if anyone's interested.

Is this cheaper than, say, going on comparison sites? I've always thought that in today's day and age, brokers are redundant.

Anyone seen any panic buying at their local forecourts yet? £45k a year and they want more, greedy ****s, holding the country to ransom. Police get around £35k a year and get abused left right and centre, wtf is going on in this country?

    I wouldn't do it for £45k.

Firstly you work insane hours, secondly you are driving around what is effectively a rolling environmental disaster. If you crash, you are screwed, it can also set on fire or worst case scenario blow up. There are huge liability issues with tankers, they aren't driving a taxi.

If they are trying to make drivers work longer hours, for me that is certainly a safety issue.

I dare say that we are only getting half the story here in more ways than one, but I would be against anything where tanker drivers are driving for longer hours for sure.

Yes I have, in the cheap Shell place in Croxley. Been sold out of unleaded for 2 days now. The people panic buying need a proper slap to the face, hard.

Total on Hunton Bridge had queues down the road this evening. As Admin says these people need a good hard slap. There's plenty of fuel to go around, providing everyone behaves normally.

Might go to Tesco in a bit, hopefully the queues will have died down. I'm on petrol light

Panic buying already in the south-west. Went to Sainsbury's to get some food and the queue was about 25 cars long (not counting the cars on the forecourt).

To do what? Shoot the panic buyers hopefully. Petrol tankers are still running normally and are not on strike.

They have been told that when the tanker drivers do strike, they are to distribute fuel

Borehamwood is currently buggered for fuel. Only 1 out of 4 has fuel today...

Get set for it to get much worse, seriously thinking of filling my tank up now even though I would feel thoroughly ashamed of myself for following government advice.

On way home from Uni today I drove past 6 petrol stations, 2 were closed and sold out of fuel and the other 4 were absolutely rammed with traffic backing up, including the one down Hunton Bridge that Nascot said earlier. Aren't they only striking for one day?

There won't be a strike on Monday, you have to give a certain amount of notice legally before striking.

The people of Leighton Buzzard have gone nuts. In Morrisons, they have the store manager outside directing traffic that doesn't want fuel out of teh car park, and a couple of other employees in fetching green aprons on the forecourt directing people. The Shell garage and Tesco garage are also heaving. Utter morons.

i drive past 8 garages between my office in Enfield and home in Leighton and i didn't see a queue of note at any garage on the way home. All were open all had cars there but none were rammed.

I may as well fill up in a couple of days when everyone has finished panicking

I'm driving to Weymouth next week s hopefully they'll restock and the morons stop panicking before then.
