He was undone a little by the (laudable) speed at which he raced out to claim the ball....then an unfortunate combination of being clattered & the ball dropping to Pandev led to the goal.
I’d rather see a goalie get to the loose ball that way than allow the attacker to reach it first.

I made it just the one, a good reaction save in the second half. Shockingly little support from his defence, could have been far more had the Dutch brought their shooting boots, nothing much Bachmann could have done about either goal. Big game for Austria against Ukraine, I wouldn't be confident if I were an Austrian fan

Nearly made a fantastic save to stop the second goal too.

He’s very agile. Great reactions too. He’s starting to impress me as his game is rapidly improving. Good with his feet. I was actually surprised he didn’t save the penalty, as he went the right way.

He’s not really being exposed from corners in the Euros, but this is without doubt the biggest area he needs to work on. Commanding the penalty area.

Yes. I'm completely happy with his "shot stopping" and completely unsure over his "presence/dominating his box/giving his defence confidence".

@hornetboy1 I agree with your excellent comments. For me, seeing a player improve who maybe didn’t impress many of us at first, is one of the most pleasurable things about being a supporter.

Agree with all of this. He did take some early pressure from high balls v Netherlands which was nice to see so he's definitely improving there too. We could do better than Bachmann, strictly speaking but he certainly is not a problem position for at minimum this Season, if not longer if he continues to develop with more game time.

Yes. If only stopping shots was an important skill for a keeper.

His long shots stat is awful. Get rid. If you have a keeper who doesn't take long shots, there is something wrong with your team.

Bachmann had a quiet game so far.

One very good save first half and Austria have been very solid in defence .

Good distribution, sensible saves and a 40 yard punch. First competitive international clean sheet. The only way is up.

A good solid game, a nice save in the first half with a Ukrainian player in his eyeline, a good reaction save to a deflected header, and more assertive from crosses. Good with his feet as usual, even when his defenders gave him some hospital back passes! Will be busy no doubt against Italy, but lovely to see he got the first game out of his system, a strong character

Didn't have as much to do as I'm sure he'd have thought against the Dutch or against England, but if the group stages are anything to go by, the Italians will be peppering shots at him!

Just saw the first half save, it was pretty good as he hit it into the ground so the player following up couldn’t have an easy tap in.

A small but important detail of his play (Courtesy of friend at game): https://streamable.com/75smrg

Something I really like is he actually waited to see what they were doing before committing to the movement across goal; no cheating (Moving early long before the ball is struck, or about to be struck in anticipation than knowing) which can catch so many keepers out who commit early and then have to readjust making a save so much harder.

A sign of great footwork to get the momentum and calmnness / general reading of play ahead of him.

I was hoping it would go to penalties as I reckon DB would have saved at least one of them if not more, with his record of saving penalties.

If these Euros have taught me anything, it's that I'm completely comfortable with Bachmann as our PL goalkeeper.

So, not as busy as we thought he'd be, but a solid game overall, a few decent saves and nothing he could do for either goal. Perhaps didn't have to go walkabout near the end, but did just enough to put the Italian forward off and had a defender to mop up. A good tournament for him, I'd imagine he's established himself as the Austrian #1, and it's made me more confident about him in the Prem going forward

Seems to be getting some stick about his positioning from some on Twitter (goalkeeping "coaches"( but that seems harsh as both efforts were powerful quickly taken shots.

I think for both those goals they only way any keeper saves them is if it hits them, they were both hit so hard. He was scandalously let down by his defence for the first one.

They were 2-0 down (2-1?) and had nothing to lose. Him staying on his line gives the striker a better chance than rushing him. It was just a well placed chip and bought just enough time for the defender to clear it.

Tbf on seeing it initially, I didn't think he could have done anything about the first goal, and seeing it again, it took a small deflection which wouldn't have helped. Excellent work from Chiesa, but Alaba gave him so much space. Second goal was just from such close range that he'd have done very well to get anything on it even if it wasn't quite in the corner
