    I have not said that feeding ducks bread is not fine; the volume is the problem. However, the idea that birds die of starvation because people do not feed them bread is nonsense. Please provide a reference to Swan Support’s correspondence with the BBC and I will gladly take it up with them to provide evidence of such a claim.
    I’m sorry you found my earlier post “arrogant and aggressive”, it was not intended to be either of those, but please do not insist my information is “wrong”, particularly if you have no expertise in this area.

    I merely posted it as a credible source of what I originally posted, that you arrogantly described as 'piffle.'

    There's plenty of other references out there of animal charities finding starving and underweight birds as a result of the 'do not feed' message. You can Google for yourself if you want to contact charities and heckle their experts.

    Yes bread is not hugely nutritous, but it's relatively ok in moderation. That's the message. Unfortunately there's a zeal to the campaign, as demonstrated by your attitude, which causes negative consequences.

    Here's a link to my 'conspiracy theory' about pet food suppliers' involvement in this campagin "Wildthings runs ban the bread campaign , Pet Trade News & Events from Pet Business World UK" https://www.petbusinessworld.co.uk/news/feed/wildthings-runs--ban-the-bread--campaign

    And another.

    "Queen's Swan Marker blames cases of malnourished swans on 'Ban the Bread' campaign - Surrey Live" https://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/queens-swan-marker-blames-cases-15395306.amp

    You can do some of your own research, but I've done mine and you are wrong.

    Thanks for these references, I shall study them.
    But let’s be clear on a couple of things: we are agreed that as you say “bread is not hugely nutritous, but it's relatively ok in moderation” but secondly I absolutely am not part of a zealous campaign to stop people feeding ducks. The problem comes from selecting certain views, presenting those views as fact and insisting that everything else is “wrong”. This is how misinformation is spread.

    Is feeding ducks bread the same as me giving the kids a Chinese?

    Cool. To be honest, I do prefer to mix up something healthier to feed the ducks with if I do, i just wanted to substantiate what I'd said earlier to make it clear, it wasn't stuff I'd posted on a whim or without any background.

    Genuinely interesting to read these articles and I’ve also found the link to the Swan Support/BBC item. In all three the emphasis is very much on swans in particular, rather than ducks, and I don’t know if there could be a special situation relating to those species. I’m sure all the wildlife charities have the best of intentions but I note that Swan Lifeline, which seems to be a similar rescue charity to Swan Support, backed the Ban the Bread campaign. I really don’t think there was a sinister motive in promoting alternative food for financial gain, but I would say that it might have been misguided of the Wildlife Trust to support a campaign with such a definite stance.

    It's more akin to you feeding the ducks some spring onions, cucumber and plum sauce and then feeding them to your kids, wrapped in pancakes.

    Feeding ducks bread? Calm down everyone, this'll get heated and no doubt the bread nazis will be along soon. I'm off to the politics section for something a that boils my piss less.

    I moved a few months ago but conveniently used to have one down my road. I used to get the ear thing done, the problem was when it came to the haircut it was like Russian roulette as far as who did it and how your haircut came out.

    My so called colleague who has managed to eclipse Mr Baldrick in Blackadder's Christmas Carol and compile numerous reports with...
    * No definite articles.
    * No indefinite articles.
    * No personal pronouns.
    * No impersonal pronouns.
    * Few full stops.
    * Misplaced apostrophes.
    * Omission of the 'reception skills' module integral for players U10 to read the ball and thus hit it.
    * No mention of older players' game styles.
    * Generic phrasing, essentially one report written multiple times.

    His colleague managed to send his a month ago,with a few minor changes required,in his fourth language and with the comment that "it's ok,I want to do them well".

    The other sap has stopped just short of asking me to write them for him.

    If anyone ever asks what's the problem with tennis in GB remember this rant. Half wire such as this and clubs that refuse to remove them and leave it to their volunteers to do the work for them. Zero leadership.

    Not good for my blood pressure before Saturday!

    People who rush to sit outside a pub with hats, scarves and gloves on. It's not fun, we know you're only doing it to post it on facebook. Yes you're the life and soul and have a wonderful life. So wonderful you have to let everyone now about it at every opportunity.

    Amazon Questions. Or rather people that answer them.

    Is a "boys" or "small boys" for a ten year old?

    A - it works well for my ten year old.

    Is this product metal or plastic frame?

    A - mine arrived and was blue.

    There are even worse than that. What about the people who say "Sorry, I decided not to buy this item so cannot help'" or "Sorry, I don't know". Or such like. I mean, why ******* bother? Do they really have so little in their lives that they need to take time to post something completely useless on Amazon?

    You absolute ****wit. All you're doing is blaming the author for a delivery he had nothing to do with!

    Authors live and die by their reviews on these platforms. How can someone be so obtuse to leave reviews like this?

    Must be that Amazon send them a survey and dont make it clear it's to respond to questions on the listings. Saw one that said "I dont want to answer any more questions".

    My car insurance company has completely removed their phone number from their contact us page.

    I had to go to the web chat and request a number.

    Of course I had to ask 3 times as his response was "before I pass on the number, is there something I can help with today?". "Yes there is, I'd like to TALK to someone, please can I have the telephone number?"

    Its not just them, organisations All ovrr thr country are still using the "we're short of staff and they're working from home" line, using covid to mask their lack of customer service or as an excuse to reduce costs through it.

    You get notifications that someone has asked a question about something you've bought. It's weird then to click the link and respond to a question you can't answer.

    There is a group on FB I'm in called 'show this to Jim' which has lots of posts of Boomers who can't separate general notifications and announcements from personalised messages

    So let's hope I don't offend anybody on here but what the f*** is the point of a Pergola? Please help me understand why people would want to sit under a bunch of four by twos? What am I missing?
    The only time I saw one I liked was when someone grew grapes over them so it made a nice looking canopy?

    Yes, I hate the things, (and unless I get a good explanation I also despise the idiots who sit under them).
