Use the money to get Grimes or Alcacer.

No need for a striker. We have Deeney and Gray.

If there is any truth in this let's get it done on Jan 1st so we can move on quickly. I'm still sceptical though

He's gone. Official. Signing for Villarreal on a permanent 2.5 year deal.

A bit surprised the club are letting a key player go mid-season, especially at such a vital moment of the season. They have to have a real quality replacement lined up to make sense of this move.

Good luck though. He was our first real statement signing in the Premier League and I'm sorry to see him go.

Our only midfielder with any passing range. I look forward to us being even more utterly useless with the ball.

"But he has since pledged his future to the Golden Boys, been reintegrated by Head Coach Vladimir Ivi* who is satisfied with the player's motivation and is now hellbent on getting the team back to the Premier League.

“It was close,” he said. “I had the opportunity to discover another league, another club but it didn't go through, but it's now the past and I'm now focused on this club. I am really pleased [to still be here]. I spoke to [owner] Gino [Pozzo] and [Technical Director] Filippo [Giraldi]. It was a difficult choice about whether to leave. I am really happy to be here. I need to stay here because I know the club perfectly and they know what I can do and what I can produce."

    - Club website interview like 2 months ago if that.

They really think you are all chumps you know. All you that bow to them. They're laughing at you.

This is dreadful stuff. Our slide into obscurity quickens.

He had star quality and it will be much harder to attract quality players to the club without him. His signing paved the way for rolls royces like deulofeu and pereyra. I am not sure the likes of chalobah and cleverley have the same allure.

Or to put it simply: shyt attracts shyt.

Not a big loss in my opinion if Hughes stays fit. Capoue hasn't been completely invested in playing for us all season judging by his performances. He hasn't made much difference since coming back into the team in fact we have arguably been worse with him on the pitch in most games.

This is potentially a genuine blow, especially as he has theoretically just come back into fitness enough to start games, unless we have a direct replacement of the requisite quality already lined up.

Our central midfield was already our weak link with Capoue as part of it - if we take him out, it's exclusively permacrocks, mostly of low technical quality and decision-making.

Any club with any self-respect or plan to get promoted whatsoever, if they did sanction this move, would already know who was coming in, rather than questioning whether there will even be one. Many, including myself, have said that this window is the last opportunity for the Pozzo to prove they can act intelligently in the interests of the club. As it turns out, we will be granted the chance to see which way it will go extremely early in the window.

Quality player and I'll remember him fondly.
However he hasn't recaptured his form since the restart.

To receive a fee,if the Fail are to be believed is the best we could hope I suppose.

Hopefully he will be replaced but I won't hold my breath.

    Thanks Etienne and good luck.

Oh great, the second he comes back and starts looking decent for us again.

If we use that money to sign a decent striker from somewhere it could turn out alright. Big if that though.

That's also a big if right there.

I'm not sure he even touched the ball when he came on vs Norwich, at least Chalobah made a few challenges.

Not replacing him would be utterly f**king crazy considering this effectively leaves us with four central midfielders, three of which are serial crocks, two of which are bang average and one of which is one of the worst loanees we've ever had.

Therefore I fully expect no replacement.

Wilmot could play there at a pinch, sit infront of Trump's Toupee,Kabs or Top Knot.
    He can pass the ball.

This and the hiring of Muñoz makes me think that our finances are worse than we'd thought.

Desperately need to pull a Watson free transfer or Guedioura loan out of the hat in January.

Quite a few midfielders in the Udinese squad that aren't playing but would any of them get a work permit under the new rules? No idea!

Unfortunately the club would have found it difficult to stand in his way - Villareal are 4th in La Liga and through to the knockout rounds of the Europa League. Capoue will be desperate to leave and get a final big payday as well as experience some new top competitions.

How? Even if our finances were decent then Capoue would still be pushing for the move given they're doing well in La Liga and in the Europa League knockout rounds.

The problem is, which is constantly missed by the people on the transfer suggestion thread, is that players actually need to want to play for us. If the ones actually here don't want to, there's little likelihood that players who will improve us to a promotion level will.

Add to that the clear financial pinch and it's desperate times. As the coach hiring proved.

I think under the new rule, we can sign pretty much any players who have made appearances this season in La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 or Serie A, regardless of whether they have a European passport. So in some ways, with players from those leagues, the rules are more expansive. I think a loan for Wallace, Mamadou Coulibaly or Martin Palumbo from Udinese is pretty much nailed on.

He’s been just as invested as Hughes who can’t play more than 20 mins without needing to sit out for a further 5 weeks.
