I’d describe us as the polar opposite of a counter attacking team, certainly away from home.

Teams park the bus against us while we pass it around sideways and backwards going nowhere, what part of that is counter attacking?

The only time I’ve remotely seen is us be a counterattacking team was against Bournemouth.

For us to even consider being a counterattacking team then Sarr would need to improve his performance levels by about 200%.

Just because we don't do it very well or are stopped from doing it by the opposition doesn't mean we aren't set up to play that way.
This is the conundrum Ivic is facing.Oppo managers are trying to stop us more than going for the win so does Ivic stick in accepting an almost guaranteed point or twist and play in a more open way which doesn't suit our strengths?
Once we have threats on both wings then the service to the strikers should improve and more chances created.Much rests on King Ken's shoulders.
The players have to improve because if too many continue to under perform it doesn't matter who the coach is.

But he picked a better team last night than the one that hammered Preston? (Pedro for Gray)

By the way I agree away performances are crap and I find it frustrating, I just don't subscribe to the view that its entirely Ivic that is telling the same 11 to play in a overly defensive way 3 days after winning 4-1 despite playing the same team and same shape. I might have thought that was true if he reverted to 5 at the back again.

I'd be more inclined to believe its a mentality issue with the players. Be very hard for Ivic to set out with that defensive mindset, grind out a 0-0 draw with the players following his instructions, only for him to come out after the game and say the away form must improve and he's not happy.

It's not just about the team selection though, there's more to football than the formation and the selection of players.

He implements and extremely, painfully cautious style and tactical game plan away from home which is clearly centred around not losing rather than winning or even scoring.

Forest, at home, put 10 players behind the ball. If we did that we would be really slated.
Most of the night we were too slow to break (when Forest were attacking), allowing Forest to get back and reset. Quina and Chalobah did not take their chance, Garner's delivery was way worse than against Preston. Not a lot of positives but 1 point off the top.
Didn't get a ticket in the ballot but very keen to see if 2000 fans can bring the passion to the team which has been missing from most matches and most teams since a ban on crowds making them seem like training ground practice matches.
My prediction for Cardiff: Deeney to do a lap of honour at the end!

This thread sums up all that is wrong with this forum. If you have a differing opinion it quickly descends into either aggressive or passive aggressive posts. Seriously most of are adults here, can't we just have a debate where we might disagree without it becoming a fight?

I'm sure I'll get shot down but I don't think the aggressive posters on here realise how alienating their posts are. Most people just want to chat not fight.

Every thread after a game has been 75% crap infighting , 25% about the game.

    Maybe I'm missing something.

Will we though? get promoted with mostly wins at home and draws away. I think there will be at least 2-3 teams who will do more in terms of wins. Its a risk for automatic promotion and playoffs are hardly a given and even then they aren't the best route up if we want to do anything other than come back down

Pretty funny that there are still people here insisting on dragging up the hoary old cliche of a red herring that those questioning Ivic's approach are demanding tiki-taka, totaalvoetbal, Harlem Globetrotter football; rather than just football that is actually effective and makes use of the players we have available to us relative to the team we are playing to get the points required to win promotion.

    Honest assessment from Ben here!

Probably easy to say when you're going to start each week and perform fairly well.

I couldn't help but notice that at the end of the match in the video, Harry Arter was whinging to the referee about Chalobah not getting sent off, like the whiny, obnoxious little scrote that he is.
