Think you’re right to a degree. I think it’s naive to think their won’t be bids or that we won’t probably sell him. A new (and major) concern is that we just sell him to the first bid Liverpool/United make... Although I’d question that he deserves a move the most - based on his talent maybe but we’ve only had a years service from him. Capoue is the player I wouldn’t begrudge a move most. I still think Dortmund would do excellent business to sell Sancho for £100m, bank half of it and spend the other £50m on Sarr.
Stop going on about Doucoure. He has been poor for the last 2 seasons. The transfer to Everton went on for weeks and weeks. Every club in the world knew he was up for sale, and no-one came in for a higher bid. We sold him for what we could get, end of.
What a desperate situation we find ourselves in after 5 years in the PL. Selling players for 'what we could get' as opposed to the inflated values other teams get. So much for the promised land. By the sounds of it, we'll be lucky to have a club in a few years.
We won’t have a club if we hold onto players that don’t want to be there and pay millions in wages. We need to rebuild, and no reason we won’t have a club in the future, as long as we take action now
It seems to me we have had plenty of speculation that our players are going , however most of the rumours have been insane (Deeney to Tottenham , Foster to Chelsea, Sarr sold at a rock bottom price etc etc), apart from speculation we have seen very little real business, Doucs is the exception , but was always going to go and I’m not unhappy he has gone. I have no idea what will happen in the next 3 weeks it’s obviously not like a normal transfer window but would still have thought that anybody buying a player would have wanted them from the start of the season so not sure I would expect to see all the business done on the last day like normal. Liverpool talk about buying Sarr in January just seems to be typical Liverpool crap to me , if we are looking good for promotion in January a fit Sarr would be worth more than £40m to us, why would we sell 1/2 through a season. interesting thing for me is that if we have Sarr and a couple of others (from Capoue / Gerry / Bobby / Suarez etc) still with us at the end of the window it will signal we are intent on going back up , if we sell everybody we can, it will signal something entirely more depressing (sale of club / loss of interest etc)
Everyone else couldn't wait to get rid and thought he had been totally hopeless for a long time. The way some spoke about him made it sound like we were lucky to get 20 million! Now we could have sold him last season I guess but then that would have caused outrage.
...as a threat because if we aren't looking good for promotion in Jan we will be prepared to sell Sarr for whatever we can get by that stage, which could be half what we are asking today ? "if Liverpool want him, they'll get him....sign who they want...etc etc".
If we keep Sarr and aren't looking goof for promotion in Jan we'll have screwed up massively. It really does not appear to be a very strong Champ this year, so any team with one or two top players should really be doing very well.
looking goof for promotion is the worry . Will be interesting to see what our best 11 is at the end of the window ....and which is the real Quina, vs Spurs or vs Boro'.
No but he could have signed for a month to help the club out. He couldn’t play for anybody else. Strikes me as a bit of a ******
Obviously it'll be somewhere in between. The club ****ed up by not giving him a loan last season. Any inexperienced player will be inconsistent, especially one that plays in his position.
Absolute scum. If he’d signed for us after pulling such a manoeuvre I’d be ashamed. I hope he breaks his legs.
Looks like Brewster is off to Sheffield United for £20m-£25m. That likely means Liverpool will come in for Sarr soon.
It's ok, we've been smart and held back Pussetto's move to Udinese. Pozzo's always one step ahead. We've got this covered.
Wait, what? £25m for a player that's never done it in the top flight? Gino might have competition for that 'best negotiator in world football' award
Yep, think we can safely assume that if Brewster goes to Sheffield United that will be Sarr off. Everyone knows the second they have any cash that's who they want. The fact we let him essentially miss the entire of pre season, have made no real mention of him being back (I know Ivic responded to a question about him in a presser) and not using last night as any sort of run out for him tells me we're probably resigned to losing him.
I'm still not so sure. There have been no links in the 'Liverpool' media, it's all been about Thiago.
Alan Nixon did an article at the weekend saying Liverpool would try and sell Brewster this week to get the funds for Sarr.
He's not one of the 'Liverpool' guys though like James Pearce etc. I would expect them to all have this news if it's true. Liverpool wouldn't give information to a Sun journalist...
Hes also got the foster story wrong and others. Hes not exactly an oracle but does occasionally get stuff right.
I certainly hope so. We don't want any of these outstanding player types at our club. More Sierralta's, Navarro's and Charlton rejects please.
It’s for the best We’re in a mess and it’s going to take time to fix it, Sarr won’t hang around so get it done now and at an acceptable price and we can move on
Sarr deserves better than us; let the kid get on with his career. I just hope we get a decent fee and can reinvest some of it. Hopefully we'll have made enough from selling Doucs and Perv to pay off debts and a good £15-20m from Sarr's sale will be available to spend on a LB and a CM.
As much as its hugely disappointing to see the 'crown jewels' better business is done now rather than at the end of the window. Gives chance to get some replacements in however inferior they might be
