Kabasele certainly won’t by laying down pretending to be injured. Maybe this is why he wants out now?
I think the positive reaction tonight is down to two factors. The first, and most important, is we have a serial winner here. Two league titles and two cups in three seasons. Youngish and up and coming. One of those appointments that could, just could, be a real coup. Secondly, I think anybody who was a little lukewarm about Ivic when his name first appeared here two weeks ago had since had the horror of Ventura getting mentioned plus links to Puel and other names that didn’t excite. As a result, there’s no doubt a great sense of relief.
I’ll withhold judgement. The standard of football in Israel is appalling at best, so it’s a definite upgrade in quality for him.
I'd never heard of the bloke 10 days ago but happy with this, can't argue with his record so far. Maybe a bit of winning mentality will transfer to the players. And I voted him on the other thread so it feels like I've won the raffle, and I never win those.
Delighted with this appointment, ambitious and a winner. We'll need to accept that his style might be a bit more direct than we'd perhaps like but I'm convinced we need someone like him to change the culture and get us winning again. Welcome to Ivicarage Road!
They are U23 coaches, I can't see Ilic bringing his own people in for those jobs. Maybe an assistant and few first team coaches though?
- never ******* heard of him - looks like his hobbies include genocide - thick, luxurious hair - looks dapper in suit We've got our club back.
Yes it is, but he also had a good record in Greece with PAOK, and the standard there can't be too different from the Championship
That interview is really exciting. He’s won a lot in his life, no matter what the level is. 7 goals conceded in 26 games. 35 games unbeaten. High pressure attacking football. Really happy. COYH! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well as many have said I'd never heard of him until recently, but out of the guys who have been linked with the job I like the sound of him. He kind of reminds me of Joka, and if Ivic proves to be as good as he was for us then I will very pleased.
Like what I’ve heard about the guy. I’d love it if he turns out to be great for us; drops the underperformers regardless of profile, develops youth, takes no s*** from anyone and takes us back up. Keep a head coach for a good 3+ years. LOL who am I kidding.
I think rather than focussing on the quality of the league, it’s as important to look for how a coach improves a side. In Israel his club had finished 3rd the season before he arrived. So, whatever the respective merits or not of Israeli football, he improved them. A lot. He’s also never been fired from a club, although of course the cynics would say that proud boast is under threat now!
Pleased with this, seems to tick most the boxes. I also think the appointment could even be lower risk than Struber, who I think had big question marks over him from losing his backroom staff and also favouring a system our players would be unfamiliar with and might not suit our current squad.
Good luck to him. Might need it ! Hopefully he is given the squad and time to be successful. We need some stability and allow the manager to do his job.
