Watford are among the clubs who have scouts in attendance at the Champions League game between Benfica and Lyon tonight.
Would love to see him in a Watford shirt. Well down the pecking order at Chelsea. A very good striker all be it a short time fix. But it's what's needed.
Top ITK'ing there Recluse I'm impressed. If you typed it yourself and then took a photo then I'd be equally impressed at the effort put in.
I'd like to say I know certain people who have access to such information, or that I was in such a position to acquire it myself, but no, it's just the wonder that is twitter. I follow the account 'Scouts In Attendance' (https://twitter.com/scoutsattending) and they occasionally throw out a WFC morsel.
Bruno Amione of Belgrano. Very physical for his age and still growing. Comfortable on either foot and reads the game well. Drops off and closes at the right moments. Strong aerially. A defenders defender. Comes from the same club Cristian Romero played for and is very similar in ability. An u15,u17 winner with Argentina and also at the Pan American games and will be playing in the u17 WC starting tomorrow. I still do not understand why we don't do more business in Argentina. Players are cheaper to sign than say from Brazil.
Best scouting network in the world. No wonder its hard to sign players... pretty much every team ever on that list
We also scouted Porto vs. Famalicao on Sunday but were asked to squish up in our designated seat because 32 other clubs were there as well. So yes, we're looking in the same places as the majority of clubs - and rightly so - but, as I've posted on here twice (somewhere!), we're also taking in the soccer school camps/academies in Bermuda where there was little or no presence from other teams and no doubt other such less obvious countries are being targeted too. It's a forever shrinking market where the 'best scouting network in the world' once had a major head start on everyone else. Hopefully those early inroads and now long established connections will help keep us ahead of most other clubs, especially those of a comparable size and standing.
Normally I quite enjoy the random players I've never heard of we pick up in transfer windows...however now more than ever I feel like we need grafters/Prem experience in this window. I'd look at Robbie Brady from Burnley, Shane Long from Soton (who actually has the ability to be a lone striker) and I'd consider a punt on Scott McKenna from Aberdeen as well. Heck, I hate to say it, but even Vydra might be worth a punt. We know he links well with Troy, and if we go down he'll still be an asset.
Only heard his name fairly recently, but could Sam Cosgrove be worth a fairly inexpensive punt as a CF? Appears to be a slightly more mobile Andy Carroll/Chris Wood type, finding the SPL easy this season with 6 goals in 9 games and scored 6 in 6 in the Europa League. Only 22. Would cost noticeably less than £10mil. So far only really seen him linked with Championship clubs (which we soon might be anyway, I guess).
21 goals so far this season for Morelos, 11 in Europe, including a really good finish against Porto last night - I'm sure he could have done an Ighalo-type job for us and QSF this season, some of that Sarr money might have been better spent sent this guy's way instead.
Reports that Chelsea will take £5 million for Giroud. He probably will go to West Ham or Crystal Palace, but I think he would be a good signing for any club outside the top four. If we took him and moved Success and Gray on in January I think we would have better options up front.
Don't believe he'd be interested in joining a club deep in a relegation battle. Will join WHU, CP or one on the big European teams being linked like Lyon.
I agree Giroud would be great for us, but just as I was a big advocate for Cahill and was hoping we’d sign him all summer, the big block for us signing him would be wages. Maybe on loan we could do something, but nothing more than that. Welbeck and Giroud on the books at the same time would be quite a coup for Watford though.
West Ham have traditionally been a bit of a soft touch away but pretty strong at home. I think the next time they’re really involved in a relegation battle they will regret playing in that awful stadium which will be no asset.
I've always been a big advocate for Giroud, and don't see why could not get him, it's time we splashed out a little and I think he would be worth the money.
I’d go for Alfredo Morelos. He would either score or punch one of the opposition. It’s a win either way.
If we got him on loan then the wages would probably be split between us and Chelsea. I think this would be an excellent signing. we put two crosses in on Friday that Giroud would have loved but sadly we had Pereyra in the box who made no attempt to head them
Would love to sign him on loan or permanent deal but I think Chelsea will want him off their books and a transfer fee. Most speculation is linking him with French clubs or Milan, for example this article. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1202398/Chelsea-Olivier-Giroud-transfer-news-rumours-gossip
True, but didn't his wife scupper previous moves to the continent because she wanted to stay in London? I know wages would be a big problem, but he is 33, and if we offered him a three year deal, (and we got Gray off the books - who i understand is one of our higher wage earners) we might be able to do a deal
Yeah because the Welbeck signing seems to have been a massive coup by us. (if "coup" is shorthand for "c<>ck-up")
