Euthanasia

    It's a controversial subject. My viewpoint is that if an individual is in great pain, or has neared the end of what palliative care can offer and they have a written legal will stating they wish to be euthanized then those wishes should be respected. As should those of medical professionals with regards to individuals who are perfectly healthy but whose mental state at the time might cause them to have a desire to end their life.

    I think it rather sad and distressing for those in the advanced stages of MND for example being forced to undertake legal battles for this right.

    The subject was brought to mind by an inspirational lady Marieke Vervoort who passed away last week. It' s about how you live your life to the full. Not worrying about what will come to us all.

    I didn't hear about Veevoort dying last week. Very sad news.

    I remember reading the original version of that article a few years ago. She was something else, that's for sure.
