Yet again, some excellent saves from Foster. Supreme catlike stop from their Serbian chap. Equal PotS with about 5 others?
Unfortunately there are 3 worse teams than them but can see them getting 17th. Think they'll struggle next year without Wan Bissaka who is destined for better things. Zaha is becoming bang average.
As said before, Zaha is good but not great. Man Utd bought him and sold him back pretty quickly afterwards. Palace would demand too high a fee for any team outside of the big six to afford. He'll only leave them if they get relegated or he gets too old.
Good win, even if the performance wasn’t quite what we’ve come to expect this year. I’ve withheld judgement on Sema to this point, but he was tragically out of his depth today. As others have mentioned, there appears to be glimpses of a player in there somewhere, by today he was so poor that I felt sorry for him. The number of times attack’s broke down because he killed all momentum and then lost the ball was incredibly frustrating. Taking him off was absolutely the right decision. He’s made a big jump to the EPL, and I’m happy with him being around the squad to give him time to develop, but today was shocking. Sign a decent center back, a clinical forward and another option out wide and we’d be laughing. Continues to be a great season for us. To think we were favorites for the drop in many eyes!
We are only 3 games into the second half of the season. Surely the remaining fixtures are pretty similar for everyone?
I’m not certain but the radio said something about him pushing our medic (not sure how hard) in response to being told he can’t continue. I respect his desire to play for us but if it’s true he did that with intent it’s nit like him. As I said, nothing else I have heard confirms this. Maybe somebody at the game saw something?
They showed him pushing the medic on live TV. He’s desperate to play, I have no issues with it what so ever.
Got to say, my POTS at this stage is one from Capoue, Cathcart, Holebas, Sema and Foster. Capoue was poor yesterday and Cathcart had a Stinker recently. Jose is probably my MVP this season. I think over the summer it was universally accepted that we needed a replacement at left back because he was so slow, incompeteny and generally dislikeable. Now I'd say he's one of 2 or 3 who we simply cannot be without
I can see a China or Middle East move for him. Being a flat track bully in a **** league for massive money is about the only next step for him
It looked like that on tv. He was being spoken to but kept shoving the medic. Obviously didn't want to come off and to be fair to him, he was playing well with his concussion. Unfortunately it was a contagious concussion and it passed immediately to Sema when he came on and he played his game like he had been hit with a mallet
What a cracking win that was! The sort of result we would not have got in the past few seasons, battling on and solid defending in the last half hour against a team with clear attacking strength. Brilliant. Was Doucs injured, he seemed to be struggling a bit? A good game from Deeney and was really pleased to see him gamble at the near post again for the Dele(?) cross in the 2nd half, disappointed that he fluffed his shot when it seemed easier to score. And Dele worked his socks off, big miss early on though and I sense he is one frustrated player, both with himself and his team-mates. I thought our defenders did well against a talented attack. But I still think that even our current squad/team is not playing anywhere near their ability/potential. The amount of fundamental/elementary mistakes we make is so frustrating, some of it was lower league level stuff. We keep giving that ball away needlessly, we are missing too many chances and we keep wasting set pieces, even our ball control/first touch kept letting us down today. It is the same issues every week but we are 7th, and that is due to that when our players are not messing things up, they are capable of really good, if not exceptional play. We need to work on getting a higher level of consistency in my mind. It is easy to believe that those mistakes are the reason they are not world class players and that this is as good as they get, but I don't believe that, I think Gracia has got us at around 75% of our potential at this time. I think that we can all accept now that Gracia is pretty limited in his tactical thinking, or maybe that is more about being cautious. But as an example, the first sub bringing on Sema was wrong I felt, but when Sema was so poor on the right, why not try him on the left where Pererya was dominated by their right back AWB, allowing Pereyra more freedom inside and moving Dele to the right? At least AWB would have been wasted marking a poor player. We are very predictable. After such a satisfying result, I'm not being negative though, I'm just think that if we merely look at our match performances (and not our league position) then I think we can do so much better. And that has to be a positive!
The stream showed him resisting being subbed, but I didn't see the incident that caused the head injury and it wasn't covered on MOTD
I think you’re being far too harsh, especially on JG’s tactical understanding. The shape and discipline we have is very noticeable and it’s clear how he wants us to play. Most teams in Prem2 have similar quality to us, It’s just that we have been more consistent and JG has to be given the credit for that.
About time someone got to grips with the notorious Colney Gang. Make Burke & Hare seem like the Carry On team.
JG comes across as measured & cautious. He has managed 11 teams in 14 years. He won’t have left all of them voluntarily & WFC is a big break for him so a safety first approach is understandable. Having said this, my impression is that he is making changes more quickly now than at the start of the season as he establishes himself.
Our set piece play could be improved immediately by allowing Deulofeu to take corners. Seems an odd thing to say seeing as our equaliser came from one excellent Holebas delivery, but he put in a lot of dross yesterday. I never get excited at the prospect of a Holebas corner - my first thought isn't 'we might score', it's 'have we got enough defenders back?' I also like the idea of Holebas on the edge of the box ready to receive the corner instead of Deulofeu.
It's not like him!? Whenever I see him play he's an absolute **** to the opposition. It's exactly like him.
The media pundit emperors are still wearing their new clothes. They can't see what is obvious to we small boy Watford fans, they're all naked.. (apologies to emoji haters)
I have few accomplishments but smug is something I am quite competent at! I would say my rating at present is 8.5/10! I must apologise to the toothless,in more ways than one,Palace steward who Dave and I gave an earful to at half time. She was clearly out of her depth and had no instruction from her superiors. I now feel sorry for her but still angry that that place is very, very dangerous. COYH!
The number of goals from corners these days is small & also the number from open play crosses is rapidly in decline. In this context, Holebas’ six assists is outstanding. Same as Bobby, one more than Del.
The Whoosh Magnet is another who has not graced these pages for a while. Dead or now supporting Spurs?
