Will the Pozzos be backing the new coach with any of his former players? Who is a 'typical' Gracia player? One is former Granada forward Ruben Rochina who went to Russia for 10m euros when Gracia signed. Not setting the world alight right now, but was good for Granada. Anyone got a scooby-doo or would merely like to indulge in pointless speculation?
Oooh, yes, I see what you mean. Managed him at Malaga, didn't want to lose him. Of course, may therefore be fully aware of his limitations.
No idea, but I'd say it's pretty clear what Giraldi was getting at when he said this last week..... "“We have plenty of contact, and we have agreed in principle a deal with some players but we like to keep that for ourselves for the moment. Once the time will be ready, you will know.”"
Gracia had a player at Malaga who had four names but is known simply as Juankar. As a winger who also plays as a left back it’s hard to imagine a player who more fits WD18 right now.
I was reading something at the weekend about Gracia having some sort of connection or link to Karnezis, or that he had tried to sign him once. Sorry to be vague but I can't remember the details. Anybody know?
I'd take a punt on that Isco lad from Real Madrid who might (too lazy to check but think the dates match) have been at Malaga at the same time.
Fantastic, if we can get him in and Fekir then we should easily have enough material to see us through to the end of the season. No idea if he is any good but opportunities to sign players with names like that do not come around often and we should not pass this one up.
I think it could be time to look up Jamie Hand and see of whatever prison he is in will let him have day release.
Winning the club's Young Player of the Year award in 2002–03 to joining Fisher Athletic in 2006. Even played for our friends up the road for a while when they were rattling around their rightful home in the non-league stadia. Good to see even back then our young prospects were fulfilling their potential.
Shows how wrong you can be - but I thought he was right - his first few games as a kid were v impressive
If Juankar signs he might get confused next time we play an Anthony Knockaert team. He'll think he is the fans' new Deeney and we all love him.
Most of the team from his Malaga days were sold. Sergi Darder was a key player of Gracia's but he's on loan at QSFs Espanyol and recently scored the winner against Malaga.
There are few ex WFC players in that side aren't there ? Pidgeley. McNamee. Didn't Hoyte play for us on loan ? Plus of course Hand. Not a great advert for England U19 level football though in developing players for the senior squad ! Reo-Coker was probably the most sucessful of the lot. Bit disappointing that we lost 3-2 given they only had 3 players !
Hardest thing in sport, making the step from junior to adult level. Rod Thomas another that sparkled in youth football. So many slip through the cracks. I have a county colleague who was a semi finalist at the Under 12 Orange Bowl. She never developed physically or adapted her game. She's still a good player but that was her best level.
The big question is - will anyone want any of our fringe players? I can't see us signing many (if any) players if we can't get takers for any of ours first. And I doubt any of them will be happy to join Udinese.
Our prices may tumble a bit as the window progresses or we agree to loans. We would do well to get £12m for Capoue, but at £6m a team would come in. Maybe we could get a little more.
A bit of pointless speculation from the Mercury on who Gracia might like to take from Rubin Kazan and I thank them for it. http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/sport/rubin-kazan-players-watford-boss-1108473
And with little else to do the Mercury have now followed up with the players he managed at Malaga, including Juankar. http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/sport/players-watford-boss-javi-gracia-1113306
I'm more worried that what with the ongoing refereeing conspiracy against us that he'll think he's related to them all.
