Nice touch of class from Marco Silva. Tomorrow is going to be a very important day for Graham Taylor's family and Watford as a club. Come on you 'Orns!

    Spot on Silva.
    Well done.
Now the players need to play like a Taylor team.

Hadn't seen this before, popped up on Twitter yesterday morning. You can almost feel how proud he is, looking at the picture and recognising what an impact he made here:

That one of him looking at the picture of him on cup final day 1984 in the Lower GT concourse was part of a series commissioned for, and featured in, Graham's autobiography In His Own Words. It's by sports photographer Simon Gill.

I rather fear that GT and Silva have very little in common, other than Watford.
    More's the pity.

We didn't need the floor cleaning because we were able to Photoshop the stains out for the version that was published in the book. I just put the original, untouched photo on Twitter.

Something I've just remembered after watching that was that after the 4th(?) went in the group under the scoreboard kept cheering "Come on Peter..." at the Sunderland team.

Also why didn't the club cheapskates film this in HD digital so I can find myself in the crowd...my latest Dr Who script is, literally, writing itself.

Now that work on the GT statue has started (or is very close to starting), I was looking at the dimensions given on the planning application:

    Screenshot-2018-4-5 18_00433_FUL-APPLICATIONFORMNOPERSONALDATA-666049 pdf.png
With the statue itself being only 157cm high - 5ft 1in - do you think this indicates that the pose they've chosen is one of GT in a sitting position - maybe like the famous picture of him on the old manager's bench beside the pitch?

I'd prefer that to a shrunken, 5ft version. Considering what he means to everybody, and the fact that it's going to be in full view to passing traffic outside the shop - I really hope they get it right and do him justice with a top notch effort.

Surely it won’t be that small once you take the plinth into consideration?

Overall, no - but the statue of GT himself, if standing, seems small to me at 5ft. Of all the football statues I can think of, they seem to be larger than life size (Bobby Moore, Billy Bremner, Dennis Bergkamp, Alex Ferguson etc). I'm just worried it won't live up to my own expectation of how good it should look. Maybe I'm worrying over nothing though.

Those measurements seem to be in keeping with the bench posture.

Hope so as it was my idea ;) Not that anybody would have read it but if is then at least someone was thinking like me. The things i like best about using the bench is the idea that he was sat out there because he choose to be out in the open with us.. and that if needed you could just add more bench space if anyone else is going to go there. Fingers crossed its this.

So I just spent my Friday evening doodling potential statue designs to see what would fit within the constraints in the planning permission submission, cos I'm cool.

    [IMG]GT Statue

The overall height is about that of an average person, with a very small pedestal. It seems the intention is to make GT life-sized and not raise him up above everyone else - I'd imagine a modest main like Graham would never have agreed to the massive statue he deserves, so it fits his character perfectly.

I think Stevo is right, other than the height, the bench design fits the space most effectively. The side-by-side thumbs up with Elton also fits nicely. However GT stood on his own appears to leave too much empty space.

I've noticed the plinth is 60cm high, not 60mm high. So it'll actually be 2ft taller than drawn by me and the representative photo in the article above.

Bet its a cheap foreign reject statue the scouting team found in Timbuktu

Will probably turn out to be a statue of a sheep or something
