Call me Mr Picky BUT could someone with far more photoshop/**** skills than me equalise the red (using the mower as reference), blue/cyan (label on mower as reference) and possibly the yellow (assuming the seats are the same "colour") to really see the difference between the images?

I miss the tea bar which was at the north end with the small tree growing next door to it! :(

I have been keeping an eye on this thread regularly, to see if any information comes up about improvements to increase capacity, especially regarding SEJ stand.
I thought work was going to commence at the end of this season, but it seems to have gone very quiet regarding information.
    Anybody know anything?

I was in the front row of Family Stand that day as a youngster right on front of him. He was very angry about something wasn't he!

Just concentrated on the red of the mower and used colour balance tools only in Photoshop. Seats on the far left and right look close, pitch looks almost identical.

Looking closer at the mower casing the original could probably do with a touch more blue removed/yellow added.

This is an utterly delightful post. I share many of your memories (of match day, not bobble hats!). I can add "Harry's 50 50" to your list of nostalgic memories as well as the double-whammy of burger and cigarette smoke that used to hit me particularly on evening games as I turned into the Family Enclosure.

I cannot wait to bring my own kids to their first game. Timing it is a balance as I desperately want them to be old enough and young enough to experience the magic you describe so well.

    Thank you

Shock horror - is our groundsman digitally deceiving us!!

Whatever the case may be - the pitch looks amazing when actually in the ground so as long as him and his team keep up the great work, I'll continue to be amazed:).

I heard from a good source yesterday that the SEJ expansion will take place next season.

Why? There must have been over 200 empty eats in the SEJ yesterday. Lets hope that it does not involve a mass relocation of season ticket holders, with the Sir GT stand going all posh and the ejection of the lower GT seat holders.

Yes. This was the promise SD made in the past. Hopefully this will prove to be true.

Our crowds have been pretty consistent since promotion. Every crowd has been 20K plus and fluctuations are normally in the hundreds. There are times when some empty seats are evidence but given the small variation in attendance this can only be explained by Season Ticket no shows.

I think its a fair assessment that we would exceed our current capacity for certain high profile games.

I agree. There is apparently a waiting list for STs. The SEJ stand only holds just over 3000, which is small for a Premier league side.

This all goes towards raising the club’s profile. Sure you will get more paying fans at the games but the positive aspect is that we’ll look the part as well.

I believe it will help to attract higher profile players. There’s a lot of good reasons to get it done.

Will it be called the Silva stand when we use the compensation money to build a new tier

I think if we ever get around to a safe standing area it should be on that side.
Then we can call it 'The Elton John 'I'm Still Standing' Stand"

I think they are introducing a Silva Season ticket. You can jack it in after 3 months without compensation, unlike the Gold Season

If the Hammers fans are to be believed, a Silva season is much more valuable than a Gold season.

Plus, even for the lower profile games, the selection of seats available to buy as pairs or more is so poor when buying game by game it must put some people off. As a Cat A buyer for home tickets I know if I don't get online within a couple of hours of tickets going on sale I can forget going with my dad as the remaining seat offerings are terrible. A group of 3 or 4 mates (or god forbid, tourists) have no chance.

More capacity should provide the club with an opportunity to re-jig and create better options all round.

I can say for sure, that regularly, when it is a televised game, there is a no show, for many of the season ticket holders around me.
Can't really work out why though. If they are keen enough to spend all that money on a season ticket, then why stay away and watch it on the telly, just to save the travel expenses.

There's 5 ST holders in my group. Yesterday only 2 of us went to the game. One of the others was ill, one was abroad and the other is 5 and would have gotten home too late for a school night. TV had nothing to do with their no-shows (apart from the kick off time I suppose for the youngest).

I expect some of the no shows on the 75 mile season ticket - that would explain no shows for TV games - also hard to sell single seats as previously mentioned

During the summer? Or starting then but will continue through the season? Just wondering if the work is so extensive as to require work to be carried out during the actual season and potentially affect people in that stand.

    Any further detail appreciated.

Would love to expand further 352 but that's it word for word. I was more interested in getting information about Silva for betting purposes, (which I didn't).

Surely it must be time to reprofile the lower GT as well. I remember when that was all temporary seating but so many of those seats now are unable to be sold due to view restrictions. When not rebuild/fill in closer to the pitch at a gentler angle so that more seats can be used. A bit like the London Stadium

I think it would be very problematical re-profiling the lower tier.
Not much space to bring it nearer the pitch and if you did the front seats would be forward of the roof level and exposed to the elements. That also wouldn't solve the problem of the seats at the North end being below pitch level.

The only solution to the sightline problem would be to raise the entire tier up but then there isnt the space above between the two tiers to do that. Also the rake is quite shallow to start with.

So raise the entire stand. It's not on any flight path, duh. A few breeze blocks in each corner, job's a goodun.

I'm not sure why they don't just remove the seats that are below pitch level - it looks stupid on TV from the camera at the back of the Rookery end.

They removed the seats that are below pitch level years ago.

Expansion is vital, I have no doubt we could sell out 80,000 at Vicarage Road*.

I'm really looking forward to another summer of watching a digger move a pile of soil around the Vic on a webcam. Good of Gino to pause the building work last closed season when there was a European Championship to keep us occupied and save it for next closed season in order to take our minds off the made up reports of all the players (and coach) that will be coming and going.
