If Man City get thrown out of European competition, their place should go to the FA Cup runners-up, as the Prem runners-up already get a place in the "Champions" League.

Love the fact you put a ? in the thread title as if you want to put in some belief but in typical Watford supporter style, question it yourself. The sort of humility we’d do well to hang onto.

I mean you could be the sort of supporter who goes on radio, posts on twitter and changes lyrics to songs about how you are once again going to take your rightful place in the Premier League. Then wonder why the whole football world revels in your failure. Never be that supporter.

Coming home from the 84 final I was disappointed with the game and the feeling lasted until seeing the crowds greeting the team in Charter Place the next morning.
The progression under GT, rising from Div 4, runners up, European football it was obvious that this was only a temporary set back and trips to Wembley would be fairly frequent - FA Cup finalists were drawn from a much wider pool than the Sky 6.
But despite some semi-finals it has been 35 years since then, and many bigger clubs have waited longer. So, enjoy the day in the sun, they don't come around often for clubs like ours.

On Saturday I'll be sharing the day with family and friends, some of those I was with in 84 and some who have arrived in my life since then; but certainly when the teams come out, I'll be thinking of those absent friends.

What are the chances that they are confined to Manchester because of their FFP naughtiness?

Just as a point of information: back in the 80s there was a definite 'big 5' accepted by fans and media alike. They were Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd, Liverpool and (no sniggering at the back) Everton. Between 1976 and 1996 inclusive one or both FA Cup finalists each year came from this big 5. The run ended in 1997 when Middlesbrough lost to Chelsea - and we know what they went on to become. So big teams getting to the final is not just a Premier League era thing.
