Do you mean the one when the arm was out or the one where the arm was in?

His arm was not in a "natural" position when it came off his head and hit it.

It’s just struck me that if VAR had been used in the Swansea vs. City cup game, we’d be staring down the barrel of a final against one of either Swansea or Brighton. Sickening.

On the plus side, at least it's given you something to discuss down the pub.

Had VAR been in use, would we have got a penalty when Arsenals keeper CLEARLY pushed our player over in the box?

    I think we would have.

Furthermore would Deeney have been sent off?

    I think he would have.

Having said that, I think he was unlucky that the player he floored was so short, because I don't think he meant to hit him in the face even though he probably did mean to flatten him, so had he been taller I don't think he would have caught him in the face, therefore he probably would have only got a yellow card at worst.

It would have been a penalty if reviewed by VAR, but only if it had been Foster on an Arsenal player. Otherwise, no.

The ball wasn't in play at the time so no penalty.

Offsides, penalties and red cards, fine. Only the real game-changers.

I also think if there's strong enough VAR evidence that a player has dived in the box then it should be a red card. Stamp it out.

That would mean Salah would be sent off every week. Can't have the big stars banned.

I think that players should be told they must jog off the pitch when being substituted unless injured , and if they don't they should be booked if they do not do so and take a slow stroll as many of them do.

Just wait for most subs to be made with the player taken off standing in the middle of the pitch to waste time!

    Hmm.

Think Man U were lucky to see that penalty decision over turn .

Doesn't matter now as Mr Messi is doing his stuff !

Lucky in the sense that they had VAR and it ruined a perfectly bad decision?

I put the Man utd game on thinking I'll turn over to Ajax v Juve when I'm bored of Man Utd. I turned over at 7.55pm.

Ajax play a little like Watford. Ronaldo has a new haircut and VAR was a waste of time for both goals. The first they took 90 seconds to confirm the Ajax player was pushed over by his teammate (not sure why he did it, but he did). The second goal they spent 60 seconds checking for handball but who knows where because it was nowhere near anyones hand.

After the man city winner being ruled offside and the delay tonight...

We can't be that far off video technology constantly keeping track off who is in an on and offside position, and also a guess of when the ball was last kicked. I'd have thoghth with the amount of money football is worth, the entertainment value of last minute goals having to wait for confirmation they could dveldev it so that the comoucom can tell you with 90% certainty it was offside or not instantly and just present a few frames to the VAR team to click confirm within seconds?

Spurs wound have gone mad had that goal be allowed to stand but it does show VAR will play a massive part in the game .

As predicted, City will have a lot of goals disallowed for offside because of VAR. I said it would in a double figure number next season. Tonight VAR knocked them out. Their final offside goal would have stood without VAR and history is changed.

From a Watford POV, it's not good news. City will now only have the Premier League and FA Cup final to play for. Their fixture list is going to be less congested and the FA Cup will be their final game of the season. All this bodes unfavourably for our chances of catching them cold, or with one eye on the champions League final.

Both signed by Pozzo this week.

The first is the brilliant Bulgarian ace, aged 10.

No one has heard of the latter but Gino knows he can breakeven selling him for dogmeat so it will all work out.

City have their arrogant confidence shot.
Lose to ManU and Liverpool win title.
Panic sets in as they only have FA Cup left.
We beat them with a sterling (sic) performance in the final.
From Quadruple contenders they end up with just the Mickey Mouse Cup.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving little club (with the financial budget of a small country).

Or the pressure could get to them, they've been on Easy Street for a few seasons. The key to beating Man Sh!tty is to score first as they've a history of choking in one-off games.

Of course it could go that way. Who would have thought Wigan could possibly beat City in an FA Cup final? That was an almost impossible result, but they did it.

I think City will go on to win the league now, as last night's disappointment will give them a new purpose. Liverpool will have two big semi finals to contend with, as well as the league. That distraction could be crucial. City have Spurs again this weekend, and I think with all the emotion Tottenham must have gone through last night, it will be an easy win for City.

If City implode and derail, it will be massively unexpected as far as I'm concerned.

IMO, the only hope we have of winning the Cup final, is if Aguero and Sterling are injured. Then I'd give us a sniff of a chance. Seeing as City only have 5 league games left, I think Pep will be able to rotate his squad nicely to ensure his best players are available for the Wembley date. As far as I'm concerned, with City losing last night, that can only reduce our chances of beating them. The FA Cup, will seem like a much bigger prize to them now.

I quite like VAR. It has a few teething problems to sort out. I would put a time limit on it though as if they are still insure after 45-60 seconds then I feel it should stay with the original decision. Don't like Spurs and would have preferred City to go through but I think in their 4 games previous to last night they have scored 4 goals that were offside so they were probably due something going against them. It will certainly sort out the shocking decisions we've seen this season at City and Everton, also Chelsea's equaliser at Cardiff, maybe we would have lost a couple of goals as well but I can't remember them currently.

Well Sterling won’t be scoring yards offside goals which scuppered us completely at the Etihad.

I wanted Tottenham to win because in my view Man City have not earned the titles and success, they have brought it. I think the Llorente goal was fine, the ball did glance his arm, but they were within his body shape and the ball was directed towards goal by his hip. However, I the Man City offside was a bit harsh. Yes, Aguero was offside, but the ball fell to him from a deflection off a Man City player not a deliberate pass.

You sound like a PL referee. Yes he was offside but it shouldn't count because <insert irrelevant reason here>.

Looked more like an attempt to play the ball rather than a pure deflection to me at the time.

I said I thought it was harsh, not that it wasn't the right decision. VAR got it spot on.
