To be honest, looking at the state of our kit for the past couple of years...I'm happy.

I don't care who makes our kit so long as they've got enough red material to make the shorts

    The horizontal stripes was ok.

The Dryworld shirt was just hideous.

Adidas first season shirt was really nice but they've lost the plot since.

Not sure they've lost the plot. The club clearly get given a selection of options. For some reason they don't want a straight yellow shirt and we have to fart around with stripes and half and half crap.

This goes hand in hand with the ludicrous badge thing, they think that an identity is created by having a different style to the shirt every year.

Give me a yellow bloody shirt. You can a bit of black and red about, but yellow. No stripes or crap like that.

Now we have a paw print on it for next season. Maybe we could get Happy Egg as sponsors at last to go with it.

    Tinpot as tinpot can be.

Hopefully be can make a positive out of it and score a few goals throughout the season whilst the opposition players are too busy laughing at us.

Looking through the club and international kits they do currently, I believe they're better in design and quality than the generic kits and poor quality training wear that Adidas (eg flakey plastic transfer club badges instead of embroidery) have given us so far.

I look forward to having something stylish and unique. If it's good enough for the Dalai Lama's men, its good enough for Elton and Gino's.

It seems they weren't putting the ridiculous paw print on the kits until this season. Now they are.

    Sigh.

But look at the list of clubs they currently supply. And go on their website and see the cost of their clothing and the design of it.

Slazenger, Dunlop, Everlast were once great manufacturers - but are now peddling stuff out of Sports Direct at basement prices and low quality.

Either way, I’ve never really fully understood what difference it makes who makes the kit.

Ah! The time of the year when normally rational thinking fans become fashionistas passionately discussing the minute design details of a bit of hugely overpriced scratchy polyester as if it were haute couture being worn by sulky models preening on a Paris catwalk!

Spoiler alert: It'll be mostly yellow. Nothing else matters. :)

All that matters is that the club will get more money from this deal. And perhaps more attention from the manufacturer given we are the only PL club in their stable. So one would expect them to do their very best. The Espanyol kit they made looks rather natty.

A paw print, with a shirt sponsor of Bonio or Ceaser. Fitting as this season we have been mostly dog sh!te on the pitch.

The Nepalese shirt with Mount Everest on the front looks great. If they do something similar with ours, I hope it's the iconic YMCA building

I hope they make the shirt as revolting as possible. I'm a big fan of retro, hideous kits.

Shows how tinpot and irrelevant we are to adidas when they're happy to let Kelme outbid them. I doubt it's a figure way beyond the financial reaches of adidas, they just couldn't be bothered because we're not worth it.

And that's why I love us.

So the story goes, Watford have been unhappy with the lack of attention they’ve got from Adidas and seem unprepared to be an after-thought. I dare say Adidas weren’t even in the running to extend their deal.

It’s almost as if we are upset that Adidas have decided to focus on Real Madrid and Manchester United and have ignored our calls.

As is always the case with these things, I would bet that the Kelme deal will be a club record deal (they always are now) but of course it will be told that Kelme are in line with our club ethos blah blah blah and that’s the reason.

Given how much money betting firms must be losing out on right now, I do wonder about the shirt sponsorship deal - was it 3 years? Wouldn’t be surprised to see them go pop and us to be left needing a shirt sponsor whilst chasing the betting firm for money in the courts.

A club like ours is ALWAYS going to get more attention from the smaller kit manufacturers than the big time Charlies like Adidas and Nike. If that's our problem therefore, the question should be asked, why did we sign with Adidas in the first place?

If it's because of money, well we can't really complain can we? We are a small fish in a big pond.

If the board want the most money, they go with Adidas. If they want personality, care and attention to detail, they go with the likes of Kelme.

You overlook stock. A big issue with the smaller providers is their ability to provide ample stock. Adidas never really had that issue, although admittedly couldn’t deal with the cup final demand.

Adidas probably just withdrew after our embarrassing cup final performance - not a good look.

Possibly. But I wouldn’t be so sure that Adidas would be offering more money than Kelme. In recent years, whenever we’ve announced a new sponsorship deal, it’s always seemed to come with the ‘record-breaking’ tag attached to it. I imagine things like supply will be a factor in decisions but I bet the financial aspect is a bigger deal-breaker.

Of course we have to have big interested parties for my next point - but I’m a bit surprised given how the club keep saying they want a larger global reach, that they have a kit to be made by Kelme and a shirt sponsor who I’ve never seen advertised anywhere outside of Vicarage Road.

I liked the 2013/14 Puma kit and the 2018/19 Stripes kit.
Interesting to see what Kelme come up with.

Definitely time to go back to golden yellow. I really like when we play in 3 colours like Brazil. Didnt do too badly with black shorts and red socks at Old Trafford in 78 or with red shorts and black socks at Highbury in 87. 2 of our greatest ever away cup victories and 4 goals from the mighty Luther.

Their designs are pretty good and suggest their staff are provided with complimentary hallucinogens on a regular basis. The worst one I could find is a Rayo Vallecano 3rd strip. Almost falls into the so bad it's good category. 20200504_151803.jpg

This kit has a sash, or bar, sinister i.e. it goes down from right to left, which signifies that the wearer is a *******. I would prefer a bar dexter, myself. Actually I would prefer the only really good shirt we have ever had, the 1901-09 yellow, red and green hoops, worn with black shorts.

    Official according to the Athletic.

Could be worth 10m to the club and the kit will be 100% bespoke, rather than a template. They also say it'll help us sell more shirts in Asia.
