It's hilarious that people think we can just splash £25mill on one player. Even if we could we would be stupid to pay that money for In a Nacho.

Troy read trip advisor reviews of the hotel in Austria to see it was a continental breakfast rather than a full English buffet option so as a compromise Gino ut him up for a week at the Travelodge with unlimted breakfast buffet, no news yet on whether he’s full board or just B&B.

    Yes instead lets stick with the fwds that have made the trip to Austria namely;

Forwards: Zarate, Success, Okaka, Sinclair, Oulare.

Plus of course Troy who scored 5? from open play last season.
Or maybe we just pick up one of those free-scoring fwds that you can still pick up for £5m these days ?
Look at Muff's options up front and then ours and consider the cost of £25m plus salary vs the income from just being in the premier league.

You can get 2 very good players for that if you look in the right places. Look how cheap Hughes and Chalobah were, you don't have to pay silly money for quality, most clubs do though.

Surprised he's not going even if injured if Silva is using it to explain his tactics to the squad. You can watch, listen and learn without playing and training.

Not the case with forwards with any proven scoring record, not for £10-12m. There is always a premium for goalscorers.

Entirely agree. The Pozzos banked 20 millions for a horribly out of form Iggy earlier in the year and they get around 20+ millions for our captain as well as leading striker they will have to pay a big chunk of that. The main issue will involve remuneration within our pay structure. Are we going to pay 60+k per week and agents fees? Even the Pozzos can't buck the market which is very tough for getting anyone with any pedigree in the door. Let's hope it's only a groin strain! COYHS

Good point about snakez on the ear though. No one needs that.

Pretty amazed how someone like Mariappa, who was still on crutches just over a month ago and said he's going to miss the start of the season, travels yet Troy has been advised to stay here for treatment on a minor groin injury. Doesn't really add up.

It's being reported now by Fot Mob that Deeney has had surgery on a minor groin problem. Might explain absence. COYHS

What for? From my impressions of the toilets at the Vic, they're clean enough and I don't think the sanitary team need any more staff.

As has been said before he offers more as a captain/leader of the pitch than perhaps on it for us. Silva last year played 1 up top for Hull (or they did when I saw them). That 1 was generally mobile or at least more mobile than Troy. When Troy played up top on his own he was often isolated a failed to hold the ball up. That may well be down to tactics as much as anything else. So perhaps Silva has targeted a more mobile replacement? Even if Troy doesnt leave we still some reinforcements up top as we are painfully weak. Okaka looked at the weekend like he had eaten every day an all you can eat buffet. The other forwards dont really fill me with confidence either.
For whats worth if someone offers £25 mil I think Gino will sell.
If that happens the replacement is the biggest decision of the summer for us.

Even if Troy is staying there's an ex-scummer who is out of contract next summer that could be pulling on a yellow shirt next season.....

Picking up homegrown talent on the cheap seems to be the aim this window.

Must admit I've been sceptical of anyone being willing to pay what we are seemingly asking for - but him staying at home feels like the prelude to something happening. I have a hunch that we will be after a couple of strikers in the week that the squad are in Austria and if/when that is done, something with Troy might be announced.

The fact it's been clearly stated that the week is being used for Silva to drum in his tactics, means it's very strange that the captain has been left at home, regardless of injury or standard of medical facilities in Austria.

I still think Okaka is nowhere near good enough to even be a backup - we are looking EXTREMELY light on quality up front.

Why is Andre Gray any better an option than Assombalonga?

It may make financial sense to sell Deeney now. But I'm not sure it makes footballing sense for a team that finished 17th last season to be selling their main source of goals AND captain without a proven successor to replace either of those roles. I don't envy Gino making a call on this one...unless a bit like Conte/Costa at Chelsea, Silva has said he doesn't want Troy at the club because he's too big an influence in the changing room etc etc.

£10m ? You are dreaming. He would be £25m in today's market.
