OK I've tried to tidy this section up with some sensible thread prefixes. Please don't bump old threads about ex-transfer targets or ex-players. They should be in the other football thread. Otherwise it looks like we've re signed Ellington for example. As such I'm going to try and lock threads that have died a death or when business is concluded. Cheers loves. If you can keep thread titles to the correct prefix, player name and whether another club is involved then the forum list will be able to give people a decent idea about what is going on.
I suppose this is the place to post this: -So what is the definitive summation of ALL our transfer deals during this window, does anyone know how to collate it all? I am never sure just who is on our books these days, as we seem to have players out on loan all over the place, some I have never heard of, it really would be good to have a definitive list of ALL our players and where they currently are, as well as the actual comings and goings during this window. Anyone up for the challenge of finding out, as my net surfing skills are not up to it.
Thank you for that Meister, but even I know that is not a complete and definative summation, as Jakubiaks loan to Wycombe is not on that list and there may be others. I would really like to know exactly how many registered WFC players there actually is, and who they are. As I keep hearing about players who are apparently on WFC,s books, who I have either never heard of or who are still on our books though I had thought they no longer were, Renege is a recent example of what I am talking about, there is also another guy who we apparently bought and sent straight out on loan to Udinese, who's name I forget, probably because I had never heard of him before the other day.
There's no definitive list and the nature of the Pozzo's businesses and the ****eness of the fishal site means that your best best is keeping track of what goes on in this section. I've tried to rationalise and simplify thread titles and prefixes to give people a better idea.
Not perfect but one of the better lists I think. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/watford/transfers/verein/1010/saison_id/2016 Given that we can probably discount the Success deal abit, and Kums wasn't really 'our' transfer; we have had a very cost effective season of transfers in my view.
Thanks jw, this is more or less what I have been looking for :sign15: It does not seem to include our younger loanees, but they are quite easy to follow on the clubs Official site, so between the site you have introduced me to and the clubs site I should be able to glean a much more definitive list of who we actually have on our books. For instance that guy Kums, as he was the one I was reffering to in my earlier post that I had never heard of, let aloan known he was actually a WFC player.
Still think it would be better to have a sub-section of the forum called "Players". Then any comments on particular members of the squad, and indeed updates on the latest exploits of old favourites would be kept separate from the transfers section. As rumours turn into signings, the threads can be moved into the Players section. I obviously don't want to create too much work for you and the other mods but that wouldn't be too tricky would it? It works well on other forums and it means that no-one gets confused about starting new threads/adding to old transfer threads.
To be fair it's pretty much what we've got here. I'd be a bit loathed to set-up a new section as I'm actually trying to simplify, especially when some of the fringe players would get little or no interest. Especially as it would need pretty regular attention which we can't really promise to do. If there's specific stories about current players then it;s the Watford section, if it's about them moving on resigning then it's in ere and if they feck off and it's a year or so later then it's general football imho.
Appreciate your point of view particularly as you're one of the people who would have to police it but on the first page of the General Section, there are currently two new threads about current players (Kaboul and Holebas) and two threads about an old player (Forestieri). In the first page of the Transfers Section, there are updates on old players (Joel Ekstrand, Nathan Ake & Sean Murray) and people are discussing a current player's performance in the Cleverley thread. If there was a Players Section, all of those threads would be in one place, and after a while people would (hopefully) stop creating new threads about specific players. Once set up, it wouldn't take much curation at all as new Rumour threads would naturally be moved into the Players section when we sign them and people would just add their comments on old and current players onto the existing threads in there. It would reduce the number of threads that are only a couple of pages long and tidy the forum up. Still, I can see you're not keen on the idea. Maybe I should start a thread with a poll about it?
You're starting to convince me. It would have to be a completely new section without the ability to post new threads, just need to think about the mechanics of it. I think it could work a bit like the Matchday section for match review & reaction. Except we'd merge into the player thread rather then just move & redirect.
Can we remove the suggestion prefix and just sticky the suggestion thread? I'm not looking forward to a summer of countless threads with about three posts in, suggesting we sign somebody who's never going to come here.
Not a list of actual transfers (or our squad would be slightly larger than needed...) but I do like to visit BHaPPY for this over the summer https://bhappy.wordpress.com/2017/05/22/the-list-2017/amp/
I know it's early and we're only in close season,. I know the Pozzos pull of a surprise transfer. However so far I'm a little underwhelmed by the players we are linked with - we have been linked with about 6 players from Hull who got relegated. Tadir who was sent back by Southampton for a poor attitude. Mounie the striker has gone quiet, pope doesn't seem keen on coming to the prem. Neto - apparently his representatives were here early last week - this has all gone quiet. Lemina seems to be destined for bigger clubs than us. Appreciate it's early and players wait to see what other offers they get - I just get a bit nervous that we are going cheap and hoping they will perform. We need players ready for the premier league from day 1.
I would agree with some of this, HOWEVER, this is always the way it goes, especially with the Pozzi, isn't it? We have a flurry of random rumours, often with some of the usual suspects, with nothing coming of any of them for the entire first part of the summer. Then, signings start rolling in at incredibly random and un-rumoured times, mostly of players we've barely been linked to at all. Remember how surprising it was when Pereyra actually signed last year, after the prolonged early window media cat and mouse went totally dead? On top of that, we've got a new manager, and pundits have actually heard of the players he used to manage, because he did it in England. So even more than usual, and it is very usual, an armada of articles linking the new manager to the cream of his previous team's players are launched. Seems like that's all to me, and unless we're talking about 'Arry, how many managers actually do regularly return to their previous club for signings? I feel like it really doesn't come off that much at all, in all honesty. I imagine the very end of June and start of July will be a busy time, as players return and new ones are brought in to be here for most of the pre-season.
Don't forget the way WFC's transfer system works. The manager identifies an area of the team he wants to improve, then our directors of football scout around and come up with 3 or 4 possible targets in each position the manager has requested. The manager then says which, if any, of those players he wants to seriously persue, and offers are then made. This probably explains why we are continously linked with so many random players IMO.
Michael Keane gone to Everton in a deal that could rise to £30mil, what a rip-off. Making the Hughes deal look better everyday.
No, just wait until this thread comes active again... http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/janise-agesawae.51534/
West Ham have agreed a £13m fee for Hernandez. Sounds like a right bargain. Can't believe he's 29 though! He still looks about 15.
