unfortunately his injures have killed any opportunity he had of playing at the top level Best thing the club can do is cancel his contract so the lad can at least pick up a some sort of signing on fee elsewhere
Not what was reported, it said that Bolton were interested in taking him on loan. Always helps to put a link in so people can see what the report actually says: https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko/status/1020951836759658497?s=19 Watford will let Hoban out on loan for games. Bolton interest.
Good good, another one that is never going to be good enough at this level. Shame he's not off on a permanent at this point though.
Sadly we will never really know - too many injuries have hampered a chance of progression in his career and probably more to come I suspect. Rather give him a go than some of the random signings we make who hardly kick a ball for us.
Agreed. "One of our own" and long absence through injury make the heart grow much fonder than it ought to be.
Hobangz gon Aberdeen on loan https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/official-duo-depart We can recall him in January if we want.
It's an ok move. I'd have preferred if a Conference South club had come in for him so he could play at a higher level but hey, beggars can't be choosers.
Probably the highest paid player in the league - Aberdeen would go bankrupt if we weren't paying his wages
He will be playing in the Europa Cup though which is more than we are, although it will probably only be one game!
Two more likely - he's straight into their squad for tomorrow's first leg of the hardly-exotic tie against Burnley.
Burnley is as far from Aberdeen as Watford is from Dortmund or Poitiers. Exotic is a matter of perspective. If you lived in North Korea or Kalamazoo Burnley would seem very exotic.
I don't know about Poitiers, but Aberdeen is a good deal closer to Burnley than Watford is to Dortmund Very true about perspective - although, having been to both North Korea and Burnley, I disagree re the exoticness of the latter.
You are correct. For some reason I thought Burnley was 340 miles from Aberdeen when it is only 233 miles. On exoticness I once saw a documentary about some Mongolian herdsmen who were taken from the steppes to a caravan park in the Lake District
Tommie played as a trialist for Aberdeen today, 18 months since his last injury. Still only 26 years old, plenty of time to continue his footballing career if his body holds up. https://twitter.com/tommiehoban05/status/1287486198991257600?s=20
Tommy had great potential in my book, but injuries cost him dearly. It could be worth keeping an eye on his progress though, because he is still only in his mid twenty's I think, therefore if his injuries are behind him, he could possibly still be good enough for us to consider trying to resign him.
What tier of football will we be in if re-signing Hoban makes sense? Hope he gets to be a success somewhere nevertheless.
Nice to see Tommie Hoban has been given a short term deal by Aberdeen, up until January. Initially as defensive cover but hopefully he gets to prove to Aberdeen or anyone else he's worthy of a longer contract come the new year. https://www.afc.co.uk/2020/07/31/tommie-rejoins-dons/
Seems like a really nice bloke who's career has been decimated by injury. Always think back to a game in the Zola season when he must've been 18/19 and was playing out of position at left back up against an in form Zaha and was absolutely outstanding. Genuinely think that he could've been a Premier League defender without those injuries but hope he can at least carve out a decent career somewhere in professional football.
