It’s normal if you refuse to pay the penalty fare.

Why would he refuse? Thought his lawyer could get him off?

    Sounds a bit thick.

Not this one. You only to have to look at whose running the show. Integrity is something they are not familiar with.

Very poor from TDB. No excuse for it all especially as a well paid footballer. Maybe not in the highest echelons but he's still well renumerated compared to the general population.

Sorry, do we have some kind of anti-personality test we run recruits through? Is there a less impressive set of grubby reprobates than our recent lot? Surely this can't be coincidence? Gray, Foster, Chalobah, Tufan, Quina, now TDB too?!? Not only do we not sign the requisite characters, we seem to actively try to sign the wrong ones.

Comes from the top to be fair. We are a nasty grubby seedy little club. If I were another club I’d hate to have to deal with us.

I long for the day we can support the club again without holding our nose.

Capoue and Doucoure both got caught for speeding too didn’t they ?

No discipline at the club .

Mind you if they let Deeney back after his jail term no surprise?

Feel like at least, to his credit, Deeney never put a foot wrong subsequently in that sense, and spent quite a lot of time and energy in showing how he was working to learn and improve from it. I'm sure that's not greatly comforting to the students he savagely assaulted, but his behaviour since can hardly be faulted in anything other than a (possible) footballing sense.

These guys don't even come from the same situation or context at all, they're just being (incredibly over-privileged) twwats.

Clearly a protest against the state of rail fares in the country. I support the lad.

Maybe, he genuinely believed he could buy his ticket on the train, but for reasons we don’t know the onboard staff decided to report him for ticketless travel rather than sell him the ticket.

I am sure plenty of people at that time rushed to get to see family around Christmas. It was full on panic mode as Covid was on the march again and there were rumours Christmas restrictions might apply again. Being a footballer his window to see family at Christmas would have been restricted as the date he travelled was a Saturday.

Maybe the onboard staff were stressed by it all too?

Maybe being a young fella sat in first class rather than being a little old lady meant he behaved and was treated differently. I don’t know, but it’s not on par with speeding fine imho, in terms or potential impact on others. Or as an indicator of personality.

Surely mitigating circumstances would have been explored at the magistrates hearing? It’s strange that you side with someone guilty of fare dodging, without anything to base that on except your own speculation.

There's a very strange and horribly prevalent vein in this country of twisting yourself in 72 different kinds of knots to excuse the proven bad behaviour of incredibly privileged people who have no excuse but to know better - it explains both the cult of celebrity and how they get away with so much genuinely criminal behaviour, and why pure unadulterated shysters like Boris Johnson manage to prosper in politics when, by both rights and talent, they should be in a bin somewhere as far away from any position of responsibility as humanly possible.

He's a young bloke who thought he could get away without paying for a train ticket, I don't think there's much more to it surely? If he learns his lesson and pays the fine then I'm happy if the club are lenient and only fine him 2 months wages.

They would, and the reasons why he didn’t pay when asked. The rules say if you can’t show a valid ticket their are three courses of action the train company can by law take, first course of action is to sell you a ticket, secondly they can require you to pay a penalty fare. Finally they may report you for prosecution.

It’s the reason why the first two of the three responses were not applied that’s the subject of speculation. As I said he must have behaved differently from the thousands of other rail users who can’t show a valid ticket when requested.

Anyone know why TDB was not in the squad v WBA yesterday? He's home-grown, I believe, and there was plenty of room for him. I've seen nothing to say he's injured.

Certainly not good news for us, but it could have been so much worse, I definitely got the impression that it was a repeat of his previous injury!

A real shame. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another scenario where a very talented player's career is decimated by injuries, i.e. Tommie Hoban.

I feel very sorry for him, but it does not appear to be a season or career ending injury and I hope that he has the temperament and focus to get back asap and prove himself. As well as the physical rehab, he will need good counsel and guidance to stay strong mentally. He is young enough to get back after his latest injury setback. Best wishes Tom.

Not outstanding or anything, but I thought he was pretty bright, don't imagine he'll be a first team regular going forward (though he may be forced into it if Choudhury is out for any length of time), but not a bad backup to call upon

I don’t think he, the coaching staff or anyone else actually knows what he’s supposed to do. I thought he was a more attacking midfielder but he sat and sat and sat and did nothing of any note.

I wonder if his injury has robbed him of any pace but he won’t have much impact at all.

I thought he was pretty good personally considering he was the only real midfielder for most of the game. Sensible use of the ball most of the time and was one of the few players in the first half who decided to drive forward with the ball to inject some life into a horrific game of football.
