Agreed. What was the point of that? Did well to get an offside, though.

    Citeh’s to lose now.

Klopp looked like a red eyed, scolded child in his interview.

Doesn’t take much to puncture the smugness.

To be fair Klopp got some idiotic questions like “why did Mo Salah miss that chance today”.

Klipperty is starting to remind me of a track suited Magnus Pike!
    Without Thomas Dolby of course.

Some interesting changes in the rules next season.

One of the biggest is there will be no rebound goals scored from a saved penalty. A bit like a penalty in a penalty shootout, after a save is made the ball will be dead, regardless whether it's parried back into play. The same applies if the ball hits the post and comes out.

This is to stop encroachment with players running into the penalty area as the kick is being taken.

So the Deeney "do not scratch you eyes out moment" will never occur again.

Other rule changes are listed here, including no goals to be allowed if scored with an arm, even accidentally. A player being substituted has to leave the field of play at the nearest point to where he is standing.

Thats a shame as i used to time my visit to the gents to allow the 2/3 minutes it take Deulofeu to leave the pitch when substituted

The first one is stupid. The encroachment thing could be corrected by VAR. If on a rebound another player than the penalty taker scores but is found to have encroached then the goal would be disallowed.
Conversely if a defender gets there first and had encroached then either another penalty is awarded or a free kick.

Agree. It's ridiculous that they abandon what can be an exciting passage of play because they can't trust the officials to monitor encroachment even with VAR. There is already a rule against encroachment. Utter nonsense.

Exactly. If it's really a big issue have the 4th official walk up the touchline and monitor the 18yd line while the lino deals with the goal line.

But nothing about keepers being 2-3 yards off their goal line when the kick is taken?

I thought there was something about goalkeepers only having to have one foot on the line.
It is all part of a plot to make penalties more difficult to score from, and therefore the decision to award one less contentious, avoiding too much scrutiny for VAR.
Just the offside rule to sort out now.

I think the FA should introduce some rules to stop this from happening. It's a bit far fetched, but a concept of some kind of financial fair play law should be considered.

Cue players being on the centre spot when subbed then deciding which side to walk off.

Joking aside it is a frustrating thing to watch, even when winning. Always felt it’d come back to bite you on the arse.

Be fun to see some away players leave the pitch on the far side and then get a barrel load of abuse from the home support. Get your money on another Cantona Kung-fu kick for next season.

I think what will happen is players will still leave the pitch by going across to the tunnel area, but they will have to jog off rather than walk. If a player starts walking the referee will instruct him to leave by the closest touchline and if he refuses, he will be booked. Would be interesting if he leaves the field too slowly, picks up a second booking and gets sent off.

    Good goal it was too.

Another well dodgy Palace penalty though. When is someone going to sit and and take notice about the amount they and Bournemouth get compared to other teams?
