We're being linked to keepers right now. Mignolet is ok, but I know we've only got a small budget. I'd rather see links for defenders and strikers.

Can't see it one bit. Foster may have made a couple of mistakes last few games but before that he was one of the best in the league. We may not sign anyone at all to replace Gomes with 2 keepers already on the books who have some argument to be the number two this season

Keeper is not the position we need to be looking at as a priority

 

Now we could actually do with some younger blood to challenge and eventually overtake Foster, but I definitely wouldn't want Dahlberg's and Bachmann's progress to be blocked. Besides, the amount we'd have to spend on transfer fees and wages would be much better placed elsewhere

 

Which makes its likely we sign one. We rarely sign what we need.

 

Surely next season should be Foster with Bachman aaa deputy and Dahlberg gets a season out on loan?

 

Why Bachmann over Dahlberg?

Dahlberg is capped and has a season at Gothenburg under his belt. He also has worked with our two current keepers and been around the squad all season. By all accounts Bachmann has been great up in the SPL - but it’s the SPL. I’d like to see a Championship loan for him next year.

Not going to improve by doing 10 mins of shooting practice with Ben pre ko & then picking up the cones.

 

I imagine Dahlberg is viewed as having a higher potential ceiling than Bachman. I think he needs to play somewhere next year.

 

Foster says Dahlberg needs the Championship loan next season. I expect that’s the plan.

Foster is better than him and both Bachmann and Dahlberg have the potential to be better than him.

 

From what HG said on a TV interview after the Final, he might be staying on for another season?

So if he does he does, we could possibly Loan out Dahlberg and or Bachmann to give them both game time, which in turn should make them even more ready to make the step up in 2020/21. However, one caveat should be that we have an immediate recall on one or other of them in case of an injury crisis.

 

I wonder if he might step into some other role in the club. I'm not sure I'd be confident of him having an extended league run at this stage.

Still NO. The guy's confidence is shot and he reacts slowly at times. Klopp is joking if he thinks he will get 15 million.

No it's fine. I nearly posted it at the same time as the first post, but then wasn't sure and couldn't be bothered to check back. I know I heard it somewhere from Foster himself very recently.

 

15m is an absolute joke. He was nothing more than average even for Sunderland. I'm more than happy having Foster and Bachmann fighting it out. Hopefully Gomes stays for another season as the third. Then Pontus can get some games in the championship hopefully.

 

Think the rumours are Bachmann is garnering interest from Rangers after his performances for Killie this year..We need another experienced backup for Foster if Huerelio goes then don't think Pontus is the answer as a current number 2 as personally think he needs to get some experience of the English leagues before moving up.
