Our best CB, who kept Ibrahimovic in his back pocket vs Man United. Who threw his body on the line in our 2-1 against Arsenal last season is potentially being flogged. Arguably the best defender we have had in recent years and our most consistent player.

Sure he doesnt have speed, but in the tackle and in the Air he is supreme over all our other defenders. His reading of the game and ball distribution is much better than the likes of Britos and Kaboul. Apart from Deeney, Gomes and Holebas he is the only Player on the pitch who can lead, not just through example but through knowledge.

We sell him, and fail to replace him with someone equal or better, I reckon that could be the final nail in the coffin.

Us, In all Honesty I truly think that prodl has the same influence on our team as Deeney does.

Not sure what you're all moaning about. It's not as though he didn't bring in quality to replace them all. Trevor Senior, Mark Morris, Gary Chivers(?) Etc

At his age and with time on his contract and PL experience, I would expect him to go for not much less than the guy they want to replace him with.

Anyway, 1, it is Sunday Sport Witness, and; 2, His agent doesn't hold an official position at Watford.

Agana yes. Went on to be a great player for Sheffield utd. Bardsley was the worst decision. Richard Hill would have been a great player but injury wrecked his career.

Now then. Mark Morris was quality. Just missed out on POTS, and only then because Oly Phillips had a tantrum and wrote an article basically saying he wasn't elligible due to time out with injuries.

Surely just talk, no way we'd want to sell him after last year. Remember Pozzo's make the final decision and I don't believe they'd let Silva sell him.
I think if we were to sell a centre half it would either be Kaboul or Britos that goes instead of our player of the season.
The way the Pozzo's do their business aswell; no way Pr*dl will go without a replacement being brought in or lined up.
Can see us bringing in a centre half in before Wednesday of next week, preferably a ball playing one rather than a destroyer like Pr*dl is

I disagree. If you have a centre defender without pace they need to be **** hot at positioning. Prodl is the best positionally for us, but does his positioning oversome the pace of top players like Mane? I don't think so, maybe when he's on top form, but players generally aren't on top form all season long. The bit of extra pace makes positional liability that little bit less. but if Silva Wants to play counter attacking football and a high defensive line then you need quick centre-backs, i comes down to the way Silva plays. I'm just trying to rationalise why we might be selling him. On the basis that Silva wants athletic, fast centre defenders.

I agree 100%. I think he's the best defender for Watford that I've seen in a Watford shirt. He's an intelligent brute. But his speed is probably his worst attribute.

I don't want him to go at all. Just trying to rationalise the though process if he does indeed go. It won't be because he's a bad defender. It will more likely be because that Silva wants fast defenders who can push up and track back quickly and get the extra yard on faster strikers.

But selling Prodl and getting Rannochia in makes absolutely no sense. Remember Hull's last game at Palace in May.

Prodl is not quick but he knows how to tackle, block and head the ball. His positional sense is very good plus he is adaptable in that he fits with whoever he paired with. Over a season he is our most consistent defender. Cathcart and Kabasele are quite injury prone lately. Hoban is mobile enough for me and should be in the squad and Mapps was competent end of last season. Thought Britos and Kaboul did an OK job against Liverpool except when our defence lost it's shape for 15 - 20 minutes.

However. I would still want to keep Prodl over the others even if we get in an upgrade. We certainly are not going to get a better value CB than Prodl and a replacement would cost serious bucks.

Totally agree. But the fact is he was on the bench so I'm not sure Marco likes him so I'm worried this has legs.

Agents do most of the donkey work in the transfer market. If the two players share an agent it certainly wouldn't be difficult.

There's a number of reasons why he could go, more money, chance to play in Europa, perhaps win some silverware Domestically or perhaps he's aware he won't be first choice this season and with the World Cup looming....

As others have said, it's a **** source anyway and he's better the vast majority of our defence.
