England due to start soon in a tough game against Argentina. Seems like the Scots and French got lucky with wins in their games against the "minows"
Well we didn't make that one look too easy by the looks of things. (Didn't actually watch it myself )
I did we were rubbish especially Johnny Wilkinson he missed FIVE penalty kicks in a row, and they weren't that difficult either!!! I did not hear anyone else mention this, but I was wondering if Wilkinson's uncharacteristic bad performance was down to the fact they were playing in a stadium with the roof closed, so maybe the indoor conditions were unlike the natural outdoor conditions he is used to? Just a theory?
Maybe but he would have trained in it before I think. Mind you Argentina missed a few as well. Was a win but will need to improve a lot and TBF souds like the players and Martin Johnson knew that
We were poor but we didnt allow ourselves to build any momentum because we kept giving away incredibly obvious penalties. Having said that i thought the refereeing in the welsh match was much better because of his communication with the players and becuase he was prepared to allow them more opportunity to avoid the infringements and as a result that game flowed brilliantly and was fantastic to watch. Had Wilkinson slotted like he normally does i think the game would have turned out a lot more convincingly as the match wore on. Youngs made a great impact and right from that first touch and go at the free kick he injected some much needed spark and urgency. 2 'easy' games now and knock the scots out in the last group game before we go into the knock outs in much better shape.
England have been good in patches, with great play but only at certain times. Georgia have been strong though, some great tackles
Good, I was starting to get into it which was a worry. An All Black v Ireland Wales final will suit me just fine.
Good luck to the Welsh however please don;t win. My life will not be worth living when I meet up with my Cardiff mates:dismay:
fair play to france and Wales today, both were superb. It will be hard to pick a winner from that Semi. If France turn up then they should win it, but as we all know with the French its a case of if they can be bothered. Don't write South Africa off yet. Both SA and NZ have a knack of chocking in world cups, it could easily be NZ this time
England were very, very mediocre today none of the player's looked up for it today apart from Tuilagi and he wasn't brilliant. The French were a better side until Vishilli was taken off then they seemed to play defensively which invited the English pressure resulting in two tries of which only one was converted. The Welsh will give it everything they have but it seems that if they turn up the Enemy will sweep them aside.
