Just started a thread about this guy in The Team Bus but it's under moderation.

Basically what a debut. This guy has hit the ground running and was absolute class. His touch was brilliant as was his positioning and play making. He is clearly premier League quality and for €3m or whatever we paid for him, it was an unbelievable incredible steal in today's market.

We bought him with the Gueds money & still had about a million squids left over. Gino is a genius.

But according to one pundit it's all wrong.

Considering all I've been hearing is criticism of his decision making elsewhere I can honestly say there was no sign of it yesterday, he passed when he should have and his three good attempts were all worthwhile chances. I honestly think it won't be long before they start going in and when they do it won't just be in ones and twos.

He's played one game. He looks technically excellent, but so did Jurado after a match or two. Many hot-and-cold players start off excellently, but cannot keep the motivation up.

I'll judge him after ten games or so. However, you can immediately tell his movement and composure around the box are very welcome additions to our side.

Plenty of Milan fans saying the same about Niang "just wait until he's played 5 matches and then gives up trying" is what plenty have been saying..

Yes of course we'll see but in that one game all the signs are that he's in tune with how Mazzari wants us to play. Perhaps he's not quite as fleet footed as FF but he's more direct and more aware of his colleagues. Whatever you might think, Jurado's biggest problem was simply the physicality of the English game; Zarate's no stranger to it.

I'll remind you, he cost £2.5 million, Ighalo went for 20.

I'd say big strong Niang will thrive on English football

With temperamental players (if that's what they are) it's always about how well the manager handles them. Hopefully Walter's the man to get the best out of them. If he is then we've got 2 cracking players. We shall see.

Except this one doesn't lose the ball in ridiculous areas and can pass to a teammate.

It's not about size or strength though. It's about attitude, and they say Niang has a terrible mentality and stops trying. Physicality of the PL is a bit of a myth as well. 5"7 and 10.5st David Silva manages to do fine..

Err ... are we in for Silva then? Why don't we go the whole hog and get Messi instead?

... No one said physicality is a must in the PL but IMO it often helps. A myth it isn't.

Niang is little more than a kid, how can you label him with attitude at his age?

Not fussed about players attitudes at previous clubs, more interested about how they train and play here! Niang looks very promising and Zarate hasn't done anything to make his signing look questionable. Quite rightly I will look again towards the end of the season as to how well they have done, certainly won't be seeking the views of fans of other clubs etc etc after just one or two games

TBH I think he has (but for Fiorentina).

With a slice of luck he could so easily have scored a couple on Saturday and/or claimed some assists. It's not often a player slots straight in but he looks the part and for such a low price I'm pinching myself.

It's pointless comparing him to his earlier English stints, he just suits Mazzari's style

With Success and Amrabat both offering direct competition for the same place in the side one hopes that spurs each on to maintain their efforts

I think that's true of the squad generally now. There's so much competition for places.
