Perfectly timed run again for the assist and really should've had another assist beforehand with a great low ball across the face of goal. Confident penalty too, he missed one earlier in the season:
Great assist that. I wouldn't take him into our squad yet, but he has some great potential to become an Aguero-esque forward - he has got the right build and play style for it. All we have to do now is ensure we maintain his development and most importantly, keep hold of him
Think he's probably outgrown the Segunda league now, a season in La Liga next season on loan and he should qualify for a Spanish passport I think. Then we don't need to worry about work permit decisions etc. Then he should be ready to lead us to the Championship title.
Any chance he will sneak into the Colombian WC squad? I know they're pretty well stocked for forward players (Falcao and Zapata are playing well this season), but if he manages to nab a place we might get to have him a season early.
It seems very unlikely. However if he makes it into the friendly squads and impresses between now and the summer - it could be possible. Hopefully he'll get called up for their friendly against France in a couple of months time.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...n-camilo-hernandez-to-cost-25m-reports-claim/ Observer saying that we may have quoted 25m Euros to Barcelona in January for him. One train of thought is that we should keep him and use him for our own gain for a while not season if possible - much like Richarlison. Not like we are blessed up front... The other train of thought is that we could use him to cultivate a relationship with Barcelona.
Surely too little ?......but I guess with a big sell on clause and the Pozzos may have regretted not selling Pyjamarama while he was blowing hot 2 years ago.
Similarly, if he was to come here and put in a similar four months' worth of performances to Richie's latest then they might also end up with a similar regret...
I'm writing an article on him at the moment. €25m would be a bargain for Barcelona. This kid has it all.
I'm sure Gino is well aware, but in terms of business €25m is pretty good for someone that we can't have spent much on (<4m would be my guess) and only had on our books (for a cheap wage) for a couple of seasons. But he's incredible and absolutely destined for the very top of the game. Fantastic technique, speed, awareness, leadership, finishing ability and eye for a pass. Equally adept as playing on the wing, up front or attacking midfield. Only downside is his height and aerial ability (5"9), but that's me being picky! Will obviously stick my article up here when it's done.
Height, yes. Aerial ability, not so sure it's a weakness. He's scored goals and had attempts where he has outjumped much bigger defenders from corners and crosses. In the Loanees thread there is also a video of the most incredible attempt at scoring from a header from a ball that was behind him pretty much on the edge of the area. The power he generated was like he'd kicked it, and he was only denied by a top save.
Can we realistically sell direct to Barca? Wouldn't they want a promising kid road tested with a Champo League starter team (eg Arsenal)? I imagine the price of a top, top kid rises exponentially in their early 20s so if we can hang onto them for a year or two more, then the price we could receive is much higher.
Not necessarily, they bought a 23 year old Colombian defender in a few weeks ago from a club in Brazil and he made his Barca debut the other day.
Encouraging if that’s a trend. Soton got £7m for Bale from Spurs. Spurs got £85m for him from Madrid six years later. Spurs didn’t make Bale 12x more valuable through coaching him. (In fact, Arry wanted to offload him.) Getting closer to the money makes you money in this game. If we can start selling direct to the elite clubs, forza Gino.
I guess that was also the thinking behind us "further developing" Success, Penaranda and Oulare. How's that coming along ?
Frogs & princes, maybe. These days we have Chelsea Syndrome whereby a 19-20 yo can be paid £1m a year. By almost all measures you’ve made it. Except you’re not starting or even playing. Plenty of scope for professional progression to grind to a halt ( with or without a case of Baileys for company).
If Hernandez were to develop sticky up hair (a la Firmino) that might swing the scales back in his favour.
€25m isn’t even loads of money these days. I’d rather see him play for Watford than let Barca have him while we waste the transfer fee on yet more duds. Hernandez > Deeney + Gray + Okaka put together. Vamos Cucho!
Managed to catch this lad play all be it highlights since the hype about him and we could have something very special on our hands €25m is not enough. Miles better than Andre Gray already!
Me too, every time. But these days it’s a seller’s market meaning that young talent can generally choose when, & to some extent, where it wants to go. Telling a spotty faced Herbert that he can’t move elsewhere because he’s signed a contract doesn’t really cut it. WFC needs to offer the lad real benefits for staying that extra season. The more we are seen to be cup/Europe contenders, the more realistic this is. But it’s the devil’s own job achieving a stable mid table berth aspiring in this way. Which non top 6 have won trophies recently? Wigan, Swansea & Birmingham. Only Lesta have maybe got there.
Sort of. The club just haven't applied yet. He's a Huesca player until summer and there was obviously no rush to change that.
Looking forward to the club selling him and announcing via twitter he’s gone without ever playing for us, and our record fee.
I’ve already got his name stitched onto the figurative shirt he ll never play in. Club ship still charged me though .
Perfect place to send him back on loan next season. Experience in the top flight, whilst getting his Spanish passport whilst knowing the team/manager etc. Will only be good for his development. Provided we don't cash in over the summer, but I think we'll be foolish to sell now.
I'm in two minds. If we could pull off a Richarlison style WP application, I'd be all for getting him over now. And I'm also weary of sending him back to a club that will likely be scraping against relegation next season and would be good to see him higher up the table if he's not here. But that said, I do see all the benefits that you've listed too. Tricky. I'd like to think we would at least try and get him over now though given our striking options....
