Good news that it looks like his program may be dropped, albeit it has taken a tragic death to bring it on.

Personally, I can't stand the program or the bloke, I find him far too aggressive when he tackles people ill equipped to handle it. He is patronising, creates division and, in my view, is a nasty bully himself. To me, from the bits I've seen, it is extremely uncomfortable viewing and I cannot understand how people can watch it regularly.

However, we can now expect loads of his guests to come out of the woodwork to tell us what a terrible exprience appearing on the program was.

But the program has been on for many years and everyone knows what he is like, and I have little sympathy for those that, seeking their 5 minutes of fame, air their problems in public and then complain about the experience afterwards. People need to take responsibility for their own actions.

    In my view.

Horrible show that exploits the misfits and dregs of society, watched and enjoyed enormously by those one tiny notch higher, who sneer at the participants knowing that they are living proof that they themselves are not quite the lowest of the low.

Car crash TV which should never have made.

ITV will have set up a multi-million pound compensation scheme within the year. It's just the way of the world now. As you say, loads of willing participants will start coming out with their stories of woe and trauma.

Like most "reality" TV, I've never watched it.

My normal response to something that is popular being banned, even if it is not to my tastes, is to question why we should restrict what people want. I fundamentally believe in the right of people to choose.

Having said that, from what I have read and what you have posted, I have to agree that it is difficult to see what positive role this type of programme has on society.

As you say, the people on it should "know" what they are getting into. But the programme feeds on the vulnerable and desperate, the very people who are not likely to make sensible choices.

Why people want to watch people's lives exposed and sometimes ruined on TV is beyond me.

Someone must have given him a glasgow kiss or similar in one of the shows, is there any footage of it anywhere if so?

Are you talking about 'Britain's Got Talent' or 'X factor'?

As you say sad its taken a tragic death to end a programme that seemed to exploit people at their lowest with people allowed to laugh at them.

I presume the show must have had a few previous warnings and this was the final straw?

I could never understand why anyone would appear on the show nor watch it. I am pleased to say the only time Ihave ever watched it was on the TV screens in my barber's. Hopefully now they will just show the news.
Not sure I would have banned it though. I am opposed to censorship. It would have been better if the show had been cancelled due to poor ratings.

I don't know how he or ITV got away with forcing these people to go on the TV for so long.

    Disgrace.

Next to go should be Love Island - 2 suicides and people can't wait for the next series.

    I'd also cancel:

    Eastenders
Line of Duty - just so we never find out who/what H is - for a laugh.
The Big Narstie Show - can't understand a word he says
Great British Bakeoff - it's people baking cakes

Although it doesn't seem to have been mentioned I did read a few years ago that people were actually paid for going on the show, that could well be a reason some people were happy to go on it!

Apparently ex-Hornet Jermaine Pennant appeared on a 'celebrity' edition of the Jeremy Kyle show in the fairly recent past.
