I may be wrong here but it only says "Fiorentina have made a push for him" which doesn't mean anything yet... We made pushes for multiple players and they ended up elsewhere. There is always the slight chance that he may snub Fiorentina for that sleeping giant in the Prem... Watford

£20 million is a lot but it's not as if we have no money in the bank. In fact i'm sure there is still money left from Ighalo's sale

 

Why is that? Because we might not sign a player or two we've been linked with? I bet we're not interested in over 90% of the ones we're linked with.

Which players have we made a push for?

 

Neto, Partricio etc etc come to mind. Yeah they haven't actually gone to other clubs yet but they don't seem to be keen on moving to Watford

 

Would you expect them to be? Our place at the moment for bigger targets is the bargaining chip or backup option.

 

But have we made a push for them? It's been in the tabloids and then subsequently filtered to the WO and Hertfordshire Mercury, neither of which I doubt have sources at the club these days. Granted sometimes these things are sometimes correct but mainly they aren't so I don't think we could say for certain we've made a push for anyone. Gino seems to work in quieter circles than the mainstream press...

 

One will crop up out of nowhere, happens every window. It will develop from being a rumour to being completed within the space of a day.

 

Have we actually attempted to sign them or is it just rumours. Social media makes it almost impossible to substantiate any rumours until a player actually signs. One thing we've learnt with Gino is that we go about our business very quietly and quite often the players we get we only find out about right at the end of the deal.

Agreed, I reckon a cash plus player deal with the newly signed Gibbs and Pickford going the other way should seal it .

It's because we need a proper pacey striker in the mold of Simeone, Iheanacho and now Perez. We never replaced Iggy and upgrading our midfield alone is not going to cut it. There is uncertainty around Deeney due to his injury or the chance he might be off before the end of the window. Starting with Okaka alone puts us under pressure from the off. Can't count on Success or Sinclair due to inexperience. Unless we are looking at this type of player we will be nailed on favourites for relegation. Most of the EPL are upgrading at a frightening rate. We have no choice but to match them. Still confident Gino can do the business. COYHS

 

Oh i don't doubt that we need a striker. And I have said before that we never replaced Ighalo. But we're just not going to sign Simeone, that the only thing I find annoying. This outlandish desire for players we have very little chance of signing yet won't stop banging on about.

When you were talking to Gino and he was divulging the inner secrets of the Watfords transfer targets for this summer, who did he tell you we were after ?

Seriously, I dont think that Simeone is that unrealistic a target.

Hes had one season in Serie A, did well but not spectacularily, only 22 with a style of play that is suited to the EPL.

I'd say a move to a club like Watford would be a perfect move for him. A bigger club at such an early stage has been the downfall of so many players. With his Dad being who he is , he ll be getting sage advice, rather than agent fuelled nonsense.

Hes certainly far more realistic a target than Pereyra was.... who is your forum image.
