This is already mentioned elsewhere, but it was part of a different thread so I say we discuss it here.

I took a look through a Cardiff forum and this post made me choke on my rich tea: "I think having a Red home Colour kit is the least of our problems . Having a clueless Manager and a inept striker are of more of a concern to me"

Sorry just seen it being discussed elsewhere.

Its mental though, Vincent Tan says the club will never get promoted while they play in Blue.
Red is his favourite (and lucky) colour so hes decided to change the whole club. Absolutely nuts.

If something remotely like what is apparently being proposed goes ahead it'll be weird, and a lot of Cardiff fans will stay home or protest. Would be interesting to see how things unfold as an ousider. I'd be very upset if a new owner came in and decided to change our colours and/or our name.

That Cardiff City message board thread has a fair amount of pretty disgusting racism in it.

If you change your club name don't you have to start over from the lower leagues or am I sorely mistaken?

Me and you both. It will be very interesting to see how the Cardiff fans react to this if this goes ahead.

Didn't Sam Hammam try to change the name to Cardiff City Football Clan or some *******s a few years back?

Ah the team's shirt changes colour, so what? It's just a shirt I guess, although some may think differently of course. I'm sure Watford have changed colour a few times in our history! Not recently though. That comment Admin posted above from their forum did make me laugh.

    What? This is ridiculous.

Can you imagine the uproar if Bassini decided to change Watford from playing in yellow? People foamed at the mouth at him renaming a derelict pub ffs.

Ridculous is going up to the top of Mount Everest in your underpants, what I wrote is an opinion. Calm down dear. Of course there would be uproar, and I wouldn't be happy, but I wouldn't foam at the mouth.

    You've made me feel guilty

It's true though, a complete rebrand, disregarding years of history is a kick in the teeth, at least to 95% of fans

Sounds like this is almost certainly happening. Here's the latest from that Cardiff forum, after a number of fans had a meeting with representatives for the Malaysian owner(s):

    http://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=79181

Looks like the guy wants to make all the changes or quit. It also sounds like they will be spending mad money in order to get promotion. What happens when it inevitably doesn't work I wonder? This will be an interesting couple of years for Cardiff I feel. Glad I'll be watchig from the outside as the whole thing looks pretty precarious.

EDIT: This is a quote of the opening post on that Cardiff forum thread:

FANS’ leaders tonight told WalesOnline they were torn over radical proposals for Cardiff City which could catapult the club to the summit of British football – but at the cost of its proud tradition.

Around 15 representatives met with officials from the club in a two-hour meeting held at the Cardiff City Stadium last night.

They emerged saying the club had listened to their concerns but that there was no option but to accept a generous financial package given the club’s finances.

They said the deal was dependent on the outstanding debt to Langston being settled but said if terms were agreed a raft of changes would be brought in – beginning at the start of the new season.

After the meeting, Vince Alm from Cardiff City Supporters’ Club said the club could struggle to keep afloat without the deal.

He said: “I understand what they were saying. The problem I have got is I’m a traditionalist and I think it’s the Bluebirds and the badge is our identity.

“I’m against that but understand the reasons why the local board are making this decision to put the club on a financial footing.

“They haven’t agreed on it but the reason they are looking at this offer to put the club on a sound financial footing.

“Without it we might struggle to keep afloat more than a week or two by the sounds of it.

“It gets away with a lot of our identity but you will never lose our history because it’s always there,” he said.

“Langston is yet to be done and that would be a pre-requisite of a deal going ahead.

“Apart from everything, it’s the best deal ever. It’s fantastic, the whole package, it’s great, it’s just the colour change and the badge change.

“Those are my personal views though and we need to talk to our members yet.”

Fan representative Keith Morgan said: “Basically the club put across its explanation of the outlying terms for new investment by the existing investors.

“There’s quite a bit of detraction in terms of the proposal to change our colours because of the worries fans have of losing our identity that has been with the club since 1899 and it has always been the Bluebirds.

“But it is trying to balance that out against the economic realities of life.”

And Annis Abraham, who has supported the team for 40 years, said: “We were 99% united in there all of us.

“They have gone further than Sam Hammam – they have taken the Bluebirds, they have taken the whole crest away and given us a red strip with not even a bit of blue trim, it’s black.

“They were fantastic – Alan Whiteley and Wayne Nash and the media lads.

“They listened to us but it doesn’t matter what we say because they admitted they only worked for Vince Tan. They felt for us, truly they did.

“It’s not down to them – it’s happening.

“It’s happening, no matter what anyone says and that’s what they have said.

So Cardiff either accept this deal, and lose their identity, or they tell Mr Tan to eff off, he stops bankrolling the club and jumps ship, and this time next year Cardiff are nothing more than a name in the history books.

    Sucks for them.

Liverpool had the same thing happen to them last season. They were given loads of money to spend, but had to play in red. I didn't see their fans making a big fuss about it.

Well VT is pretty set on what he wants.
I cant decide if I would rather us re-brand or struggle to stay afloat..must be hard for the Cardiff fans to take

They made a compromise. They Cardiff players can wear their blue kit, but will have to wear red noses, just like their clown of a boss.
