Two nice bet wins for Lux and Myself in Novemeber we are putting in £20 each and Admin (new) has doubled that to make a pot of £80.

This is a very simple poll to ascertain what the forum would prefer:

    1) - A betting pool where a poll is put up for each wfc match and a bet place on the option with most yay's - the whole betting pool will not be risked and the bets put up will be ones of reasonably hgh odds.

    2) - A forum competition to run to 31.12.12 -with a 1st prize of £50 and second prize of £30.

Vote away and the most popular will be actioned.

Many thnx to Lux and admin new for their generosity.

So with the betting one (option 1), will the winnings be distributed eventually (if we win)?

How will they be distributed? I would like to suggest option 1, but with the winnings used to sponsor a player's kit* in the name of the forum.

    * Not Mark Yeates so as to avoid arguments.

ah yes - that was discussed as a possible fund for a forum meet up but that indeed is a great suggestion of yours - the funds if winning will be used for the forum but not paid out to any members individually.

Mark Yeates is likely to be the only option unsold - only kidding MY you my hero as you upset the boo boys.

The betting pool idea seems like quite a good one. See how much we can turn that £80 into.

Very generous of you guys too. Fantastic idea!

Betting pool sounds long term so much better. Forum meet with the funds sounds like a great idea.

Well yes, a forum meet would be great but, wherever it were held (and I'm guessing it would be Watford), a lot of prolific members won't be able to attend because they live far away.

With sponsored kit, we could all enjoy it equally.

added to that clive -probs get a couple of tickets for the sponsors night - could run a comp for that - or auction them and use the funds for the next betting pool..

    keep the ideas flowing

Sponsoring a player is a great idea for next season, it's something that's been done before too. As mentioned, it will include tickets for the end of season do.

I like the betting pool option, we're a forum/community and it just seems like a nicer idea. The player sponsor idea sounds great too. Would be good to hear some more suggestions for if we have even more leftover.

I feel bad now after reading the responses, but I chose the comp because I am almost 100% broke! Yippee!

What's the point of sponsoring a player's shirt? I've never understood that. Isn't it just getting the name in the programme?

You get to attend the End of Season Awards, receive a signed shirt, attend the Players Sponsors Evening in March (an informal event), sit at the table with your player and a buffet meal is served. Other clubs (like Ipswich) even goes as far as to let kit sponsors visit the training ground and join in!

How would that work with a forum, though? Surely that's something only 2/3 people can be involved in?

Very generous of Paddy/Lux/Prentice by the way!

True. 1 person for End of Season Awards (awkward or what?) but 2 people get to go for the Sponsors Evening, so if you're a bit weird then take someone half respectable who can off-set your bizarre dinner table behaviour.

A fortune! Way beyond our reach.

I'm considering advertisement all the time, but that's my worry! :)

A betting pool is a good idea Paddy. Thanks for yours and LUX'S generosity!

Why don't we put half of any monies raised towards a forum do or something, maybe a meet before a home game, and half towards the forum?

Ok the poll is closed and thanks for voting - 46 of you are interested in this which shows a great support of it.

So back then when I went on pre season tour to Denmark - we had a fine outing in a place called Grenna, where wfc played Randers FC - KB was in charge that day as AB was scoutimg in Uk i think at a Preston game. Anyway - it was a feckin great day out -Jobr the infamous abuser and unfortunately banned forumite was there ( lol i fink he was and also Faith) but maybe that was the other pre season tour -feck da old age it's all rolled into one fun filled extravaganza ( hmmm is that a city in Norway?).... It was the day when Sietes donned a wfc shirt and the team lost 3-0 and afterwards the Grenna folk layed on bbq and beer and paid for taxi's and gave us beer for the journey back to Ourhouse where we were staying. junior's last outing in a wfc shirt as well as he wasn't let out of the country.

So having perused last nights footie i noticed Randers fc ( one of my Danish teams, i have their shirt innit) were playing a cup match v a funny named scum canuting team beginning with M -the odds suggested no one knew wtf was gonna be the score or outcome so i did a little bet of HT/FT reversals of both team 34/1 nd 50/1.

So sitting in the 'Old Vic' no not the shytehole threesided arena u all hate to love but the grand theatre in good old London - Kiss me Kate was just about to start and i was looking at betfiar and live scores and noticed my little bet was on for a win -i layed Randers at 2-1 to ensure whatever outcome was a win.

The ending of this is -from thiose winnings I shall add another £20 to make £100 -
the poll result shows - 76% in favour of option 1 - the betting pool so if ok with my generous donating counterparts lets make the betting pool £76 and have a £24 forum competition.....

yay or nay Lux, admin new?

I will also at this time suggest the comp - for your agreement.

It could be based on the Football league outcome of wfc and bbb misconduct charge....

the logistics and make up of the comp we can discuss if in principal Lux and admin new concur.

    let the fun begin....

Splitting it 76-24 sounds fine. Both are more than enough and it's two competitions.. twice the fun.

IDK how you intend to turn the misconduct charges into a competition, but everyone's interested in it so if we can come up with a good way to do it then sure.

Just to give you an idea. To advertise at my old cricket club was £250 a year. I would imagine you can add another nought at the very least if not two noughts

Have you asked the club about a banner somewhere-there is tons of empty space around the ground
