Who's starting the season for the first few games? I'm going with this: Foster Dawson - Kab - Wilmot Ngakia - Chalo - Clevs - Estupiñán (nickname req) Pedro - Gray - Quina Can anyone get closer than this?
Gray is out for the first few weeks. Confirmed on the club website yesterday. Hopefully Suarez starts in his place. JP's place also in question; could be him, TDB or Sema. Other than that I reckon the remaining 9 players are nailed on. Foster Dawson - Kabasele - Wilmot Ngakia - Chalobah - Clevs - Estupiñán Pedro - Suarez - Quina
Not sure who replaces Gray but otherwise same as Saturday. The bench will be interesting, might we see a few of the big names Sarr, Capoue etc?
The Xi dynasty ended its rule of ancient China approx 1000 years BC. Would be hard to find a starting XI that has'nt been dead for thousands of years. Id still give them a chance against Warnocks' Boro though.
Yeah, this. Hope Suarez plays and he's not flogged, as it's useful to have two strikers with a bit of pace and two big lads (first world problems compared to some in the Championship I know!). Seen it suggested that in the drive to keep Sarr, we might sacrifice Suarez, but ideally we'd keep both. Sarr can play centrally, or he can play out wide with a system that uses something resembling classic wingers
An interesting poll would to be guess how many of the starting XI tomorrow evening will take the field for our last league game of the season......
With the mixing and matching, we could be playing with any number of systems for each individual game. How many games will each player play might be more useful?
It's exciting just to speculate. How many times did we wonder what the line up would be last season? Hardly ever. Yes we hoped for changes. For the young guns to be given a chance. But it was always Doucoure, Deeney etc etc as the "safe" options. Now we will see what these young, enthusiastic, talented young players can really do. I'm full of excitement and anticipation (and slightly nervous). Very different to the emotions I felt before games last season!
Not sure why we have to put our pronouns in message titles now, but fair enough. I think this looks about right:
It's going to be a bit of culture shock to some of our younger/inexperienced players, hopefully they're prepared to get kicked all over the pitch and have been told to not lash out.
Foster in Goal is a given Dawson , Kabasele, Wilmot would be my guess for a back 3 if we are going that way. We will also see any from Ngakia, Estupinan, Chalobah/Cleverley, Dele-Bashiru, Hughes Quina, Gray Bench of sieralta, Sarr, Suarez, Deeney/Murray, Bachman
Surprised to see so few teams without Sema in them, surely as long as he didn't pick up any knocks while away with Sweden he'll start (and he's probably fine given that he was hardly used). He's one of the few senior and tough tackling midfielders we currently have available.
What's the quarantine rules for players coming back from International duty? I get that Cathcart went away with NI so they would have been in a bubble and I guess [nearly] all of their squad play in various parts of the UK. NI's second match was in the UK so not a problem.
I just thought he was a bit ****. Has had albeit limited starts and chances and has made little of it. Looked very much like a making up the numbers player
I don't think they have to quarantine, for instance Kante seems to be available for Chelsea despite just returning from France which is on the UK's quarantine list.
He was indeed mediocre in the Prem, though I think a lot of that was because he lacks attacking threat as a winger. However, work-rate and tackling are two of his strongest points and he's just had a season of being a first team starter in Serie A at CM when supposedly he did pretty well. He wouldn't be my preferred choice as an attacking winger or a PL starter, but as a CM in a midfield 3 he offers something which our current other options don't, and I think he'll look a good player in the Championship.
