It'd be a shame after the season he's had if we didn't get a chance to see what he could do for us. I can't say I saw anything instantly special about him in the very brief time that he played for us, but he has clearly kicked on and developed this season and seemingly has an eye for goal, and his versatility across the front would be very handy. His agent can p**s off!
Its been a very good breakout season for him, 14 goals making him the clubs top scorer. Hes also scored against the best teams in the Bundesliga, 4 against Bayern, 1 against BVB and Eintrecht Frankfurt. More impressive than Richarlisons breakout season for us. Would love to see if he can do it in the Prem next season. Can play wing and CF too.
Hopefully the rumour about him not wanting to play here turns out to be a load of crap. Looking like he could do a very good job for us!
Reports from Germany that Schalke are offering us €20m for Lukebakio (along with paying him almost £70k a week!). Can't see us or Lukebakio turning that down tbf.
Personally think €20m is way too low. If teams want to offer a young striker 70k per week he is worth more than 20m Why no5 give him a go in premiership - 20m gets you nothing. If he scores a few he will be worth 40m
Sounds like Vydra's agent - who may have done wonders for his bank balance for all I know, but certainly hasn't helped his career
I think we'd be silly to sell him for that, especially while we could do with competition in wide areas ourselves. He should have a season in the Prem. If he can reproduce his numbers for Fortuna with us then he'll be more like Richarlison money should we wish to sell (i.e. at least double that).
He's been playing as a striker I think hasn't he? Not so much wide. In a side which plays counter attack.
From my favourite website He's played about half the time as a striker, half the time on the wing: https://www.whoscored.com/Players/299490/Show/Dodi-Lukebakio He mostly seems to be used as a striker against top half teams. When he plays as a striker it's very much in the same way as Deulofeu does for us. The part about Fortuna largely favouring a counter attacking style is true, and it's a style which plays to Lukebakio's strengths, regardless of his starting position. Another thing to add, when he's played as a winger I think he shows a bit more of a willingness and ability to defend than either Pereyra or Deulofeu when played out wide; probably not as much as either Hughes or Sema, but that side of his game seems alright for a player who very much prefers playing on the front foot.
Rumours this morning that we've SLAPPED a price tag on him. No wonder he wants to leave. Disgraceful.
That's actually what Schalke mistakenly believed we'd done, hence the €20m bid for him - but in fact it's just his shirt number.
We would be foolish to sell him now after such a good season for him. Needs to come back and see if he can do it in the Prem, half his goal tally this season next season would be a good start and an achievable target.
Dodi isn't sure about the future: https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...odi-lukebakio-unsure-of-next-stage-of-career/
He won’t need a luck , he ll be a multimilllionaire 25 year old , drowning himself in high class hookers , coke and baileys
Indeed. Although by the same token Isaac Mbenza, of relegated Huddersfield, also looked decent on the opposite wing. Still, from what I saw of Dodi it tied in with the general view I have of him. He has pace and creativity, and seems ready to rotate with Pereyra, Hughes and Deulofeu, but he still has a bit of work to do if he'll want to nail down a starting spot for us. He showed again a habit of sometimes being lazy when making passes and unnecessarily giving the ball away (a la Doucoure), and he really struggles to stay lively and involved for 90 minutes; in fact he seems to usually fade already after just 60.
Having a pop at Deeney/Gray and a few others maybe? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...th-20-million-but-watford-move-came-too-soon/ "I stay grounded by living simple, being positive and realising that not everyone can become a professional footballer. And by putting my faith into practice. For example, tattoos are not for me. You should keep your body clean.”
More like just his own opinion and if it is a pop it is at the 90% of professional footballers who ink themselves. No reason for him to have a go at players who could be his team mates and his captain at the club that pay his wages.
I don't think he's having a go at anyone hornetboy1, simply putting across his own point of view which comes with a religious slant. In fact I'd say that's the most humble interview I've read from him and the first time I've noticed him accept the move to Watford was too soon. During the season with Dusseldorf he came across as somewhat conceited and a tad too big for his boots, something the head coach mentioned more than once. Maybe he's maturing as a person and/or getting some good advice.
I didn’t read his comments as having a pop at anyone Sounds like he’s grown up a it which is a positive
