Weirdly, I thought he looked better as a WB than as a CB. Navarro was really poor, he's just too darn slow.
Called up for the Chile squad. I know everyone has decided he's crap, but must be doing something right, Chile are a decent enough side.
Hopefully we are missing something, and he is going to turn out to be a far better player for us than he has shown so far, we can live in hope.
He isn't the first player to have done decent things on paper elsewhere who just looks out of place here. I mean, I could be being harsh, although he's hardly had a stellar club career
Well if twitter is anything to by, Sierralta played an absolute blinder. Here is one example of literally the many all over twitter.
Well he is new to this country, maybe he had not settled down at that point, so let's give him the benefit of the doubt for now and hope he plays a lot better from now on.
I've done some research and can confirm that Yorch is Sierralta's mum's first name!! Make of that as you will.
He's still only 23 which is pretty young for a CB - Kabasele was just joining Genk and Cathcart was at Blackpool at that age!
Oh for sure, he could blossom into a good player, I just can't get my head around him being a Chile international despite his patchy form at club level. Who knows, maybe he'll come on leaps and bounds here, though at the moment, he's, what, 5th choice? Might be waiting a while to get a chance to shine
After last week’s exploits against Luis Suarez, this week he’s up against a front three of James Rodriguez, Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel. Will be interesting to see how he does. Maybe his game is suited only to playing against world class opposition rather than League 2 attackers.
HT and according to twitter Sierralta having another great game. Although will be suspended for their next match, after picking up a yellow. James Rodriguez supposedly should have seen a straight red. Sierralta bossing him and the Colombian front three, apparently. 2nd half starts Edit: James Rodriguez red card offence that he only got booked for.
We must be missing something. So far in 2 international games he has been compared to Kompany, VVD and now Maldini!! How can a player look that good, that causes twitter to erupt with praise in regards to how he is playing, yet in the games for us, he’s looked rubbish. I’m hoping that we see that great player that he appears to be for Chile. Edit: ok I’m done. I’m now seeing tweets from Barcelona fans (no joke) saying they should sign him! What the heck!
Game finished 2-2. Chile winning until the 91st minute. From what I’m getting off google translate, it was Sierralta’s poor clearance that led to the goal. Outside of that, he apparently had another great game.
Isn't Peneranda usually brilliant for his international team but pretty useless for us, perhaps Sierralta is going to be the same? Having said that let's hope that is not going to be the case, and hope that his poor performances for us so far were down to rustiness and the teething problems getting used to playing in a new team and country.
Peneranda hasn't scored for Venezuela and barely plays for them anymore - 2 appearances last year, 1 in 2018, 1 in 2017 and 11 back in 2016. He was great however in the U20 World Cup but that's obviously a youth tournament and is miles away from the standard of the PL/Champ!
Still surprised he's been seemingly written off based off 2 appearances alongside youth team players, in a competition no-one at the club was arsed about.
I think it was that added to the very unimpressive track record in Italy before he joined us. But he still has time as noted above.
