Cod your herring be carp? Let's discus. Ok enough, I agree. Lets get back to discussing who our chub are going to sign. Loach to return as keeper ?
Not sure about that - he's not played a single league minute for them since joining 2 years ago and is out of contract in the summer.
This summer transfer window could get very interesting if Udinese are relegated. Like when we were relegated, I would assume there would be an asset stripping exercise to reduce their overheads in Serie B, but how can we foot the bill if we are potless? Will we see an influx of talent from overseas like glorious times past or will it just be a fire sale on both behalves?
That would heavily depend on our debt situation. According to Dux we will be debt free (external) in a few months time so that should help a bit. We only had about £1-2M to spend last Summer, and with the continued cutting of our squad likely to continue due to the lack of parachute payments, I would guess any income we do get from any sales will towards bridging that lost gap in finances. If Udinese are going to be flogging their better players, and Gino has a stake in both clubs, we could see a influx of players coming in at very reduced rate. If they end up going down, as you said.
Ben Davies (LCB), Tom Lawrence and Kieran Dowell all being told to find a club by Glasgow Rangers. Given how he should be readjusting what we can afford/attract, wouldn’t be against any of them on a free.
I guess he’s a bit like Ince in that regard - but I think he’s probably the market we will be in next season to replace Asprilla.
Wouldn't regard Ince as a luxury player as he does work hard (he's just been **** for us), from what I understand Lawrence is a bit of a fancy Dan who doesn't work hard. Think Ince is a cautionary tale that just because an experienced player with a good track record is available for cheap, it doesn't mean it'll work out
Given where he's from, I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear of Rob and RyanTM making him an offer he can't refuse for the next chapter of the fairytale...
Supposedly Ben Davies is on £30k a week, which could be more than Hoedt is on. I'd rather just try and keep Hoedt first. He also has 2 years left on his contract. Wouldn't be the worst replacement for Hoedt if he has to leave if Davies is somehow able to join on a free with lower wages. Further to Hogg-Deeney's post above, Rangers fans also seem to think Lawrence is lazy and also his legs are gone. He's not dissimilar in profile to Ince of course, who we did sign, but I can't imagine Cleverley wanting us to sign midfielders with a profile of being lazy. Some quotes from the Rangers forum on him: "Weak and lazy! The number of times Lawrence in particular was trotting around like it was a kickabout in the local park was pathetic. " "Lawrence was decent when he came, been utter pish since he came back from his lengthy injury lay off." "I’ve been saying for weeks Lawerence is an absolute waste of space. His lack of desire is criminal." "Lawrence is done he won’t recover from his [achilles tendon] injury" "Lawrence is done. Guys legs are gone. I thought he was just being lazy in previous games but the more I've seen of him the more it becomes obvious the guy is finished at any sort of decent level." Dowell could be alright as an AM, and Rangers fans seem to see a bit more ability with him, but lots also question his work-rate and he's considered a bit of a crock; he has had a major injury in each of the last two seasons and supposedly hasn't been that good since coming back from his last one. It would be a major risk with our medical team (albeit our injury issues weren't as severe this season). Not sure it's the profile Clevs would want, but again wouldn't surprise me.
Time to swoop for Onel Hernandez from Norwich. He's currently got a broken bone in his foot and is recovering. Yes he's 31 now, but he is filled with energy, vitality and elasticity still. Unaccountably he was even getting limited game time from Norwich before his injury, but still managed to bamboozle our defence and send over a perfect assist for one of their strikers to score against us this season. He could easily replace some dead beat like Martins and bring some flow to this team!
Norwich also have Dimitrios Giannoulis (LB) whose contract is expiring at the end of the season. Played a good amount of games for them this season, decent age at 28, good experience in both the Champ + PL for them. Really good and rounded skillset, lots to like on a free in a postion we're likely to need at least 2 players for. Downside is his wages are probably pretty high, but would still be pretty high up on my list for the summer.
Yes we were. I remember people getting excited at the time as the links originated from a fairly reliable Greek journalist.
Do you they're holding off offering him a new deal to see what league they're in? Or he definitely being released?
Not a clue, did a quick twitter search and couldn't find any confirmation, he apparently almost left in the summer with a couple of Russian clubs + rumours of interest from Ajax but stayed put.
Luke Berry linked /rumoured . Not exactly a young player . https://twitter.com/VoicesOfTheVic/status/1785666212002726235
