No it’s not March 1970 but it is Hornets vs Tigers for the right to finish somewhere around mid / low in the Championship, can’t wait. Two home games left, can we win one of them? Can we finish top half? Clutching at straws at some end of season excitement - whilst it’s nice to see Clevs making a go of things, this season has found me with much disinterest with the club I’ve supported since 79. I was planning to head to my usual random seat in the UGT for this one but with a whole house to paint, and a daughter wanting to “do Pokemon” (it’s Belsprout Community Day, apparently), I’ll give it a miss. Hull are decent away and are six points off the playoffs and with Coventry and Ipswich to play, might see this as a last chance to pressure Norwich who have winnable home games vs Bristol C and Swansea to come. What is exciting is that Hull does claim to have the largest Yorkshire Pudding factory in the world: over 900 million created each year. Look at these beauties although personally, I am against the factory farming of Yorkshire Puds: Famous Hull fans include 80s ‘macho’ crooner Sinitta: And Aldi’s version of Tony the Tiger from Kelloggs Frosties: Weather: an unseasonal high of 14 and an entirely predictable gentle breeze from the north west, I’d say pressure about 1026mb (complete guess obvs) and humidity somewhere between 58% and 60%. Pitch: a fine short back and sides, mullet in front of the Rookery. Atmosphere: somewhere between euphoric and wretchedness. Result: 1-1.
Daft to start in early April. One match had no play at all in the first round of championship fixtures,up north I recall. I can remember hail when Hobblesdon CC trotted out for their first match. Speaking of which Sinitta should put her vest on today. Rain and wind here in WGC.
I'm still wondering whether we will ever win at home again. Perhaps August might be a touch optimistic.
Be prepared to queue. I was in town yesterday and saw a bunch of weirdos congregating behind some form of velvet roped entrance.
Perhaps we could ask the EFL fixture computer to select QPR at home for our traditional almost pre-season August friendly. They were so obliging this season, would be nice to repeat that.
What's the score with that place then? Walked past it on the way back into town after the Preston game and the queue was huge and looked like largely non-football folk too.
We're now the only team in the Championship not to have won any of our last 5 games. Oh. Another non-win coming up I reckon.
Decent chicken wings for a fair price, whenever myself and the wife are in London having a few shandies we tend to pop into Wingstop for a round of wings and some Camden Helles.
In fairness, as Dom says it's pretty good for what you pay - there are two in Birmingham and I visited one day after work. Very nice. Unsure why there's still a queuing system as I (think) it's been open for around a month or so?
It’s a shame that Arsenal and City losing means that England’s coefficient isn’t good enough for the 5th CL spot. That’ll really affect the players mood heading into this match knowing there’s nothing to play for now.
I suspect a few of our players will now consider retiring and taking up a more secure trade like plumber, electrician, decorator, where the future career is a little more certain.
I am quite fond of the giant Yorkshire's that you can buy and fill with mince and mash or protein and carb of your choice .
Factory-made Yorkshire puddings are akin to Ginsters Cornish pasties: made in the county, but eaten elsewhere by people who don’t know what the real thing tastes like. PS Mrs Ilkley is from Ilkley and makes excellent Yorkshire puddings.
